DISCUSSION
As Henri’s remnant low sets sail from Cape Cod this morning, we’ve got large high pressure pushing through the Midwest and eastern part of the county, and into New England over the next several days. The high’s center will pass to our south, and develop southwesterly flow across the region, but winds will generally be light through the week.
After morning fog today and tomorrow morning, sunshine will increase, and we’ll develop a pair of quite humid and very warm to hot late-Summer days with highs in the low to upper 80s today and lows in the mid to upper 60s under mostly clear skies, with patchy fog late.
For Wednesday, we’ll be even hotter and mostly sunny, with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s and with dewpoints in the 60s to low 70s, heat indices will push into the mid 90s, and possibly the upper 90s in a few locations. I wouldn’t be surprised if Heat Advisories get hoisted for places like central/eastern Hampden County down into northern CT, but we’ll see how that plays out.
Lows will settle down near 70º under mostly clear skies, which will set us up for our hottest day of the week, which will be Thursday.
On Thursday, highs may reach the upper 80s to mid 90s with very humid conditions (attached chart shows heat indices pushing the upper 90s in spots). It will be mostly sunny early, but clouds will build during the day as a cold front approaches, and showers and thunderstorms will work through the region late in the day or evening ahead of this front.
Lows will dip into the mid to upper 60s, and while Friday will still be warm, it will be drying during the day, as humidity lowers.
HIghs will reach the low to mid 80s under mostly sunny skies, with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s, a great night to open the windows up after all this muggy soup!
The weekend is mixed, with Saturday being the clear pick of the weekend with partly sunny skies, a few afternoon showers, but cooler and drier with highs in the 70s and lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Another shortwave will drop through the region Sunday/Monday with some more clouds and showers around but some sunny breaks mixed in. Highs will be in the 70s Sunday and upper 70s to low 80s Monday.
Have a great day!
