>>> DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL <<<
–Some air quality issues today with AQIs between 50 and 100, meaning sensitive folks should take it easy
–Filtered sunshine with increasing cloudiness as a shortwave dives southeast, passing to our east this evening
–Warm and muggy, with highs in the low to mid 80s and dewpoint temps increasing to 65-70º by this afternoon
–A few showers or a thunderstorm this afternoon and evening
–Drier air works into the region behind a front with a lighter northwest wind, and lows low to midi 50s
–Humidity crashes as dry air invades for Tuesday and Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s both days, clear
–By Thursday, we start off mostly sunny, but humidity should start to increase with another system approaching the region
–Highs will be in the 70s again, but lows will hang in the 60s with some showers moving in by night time and last into Friday with periods of rain and possibly some thunderstorms
–Showers may continue into Friday night and quit by the weekend, though timing needs to be refined
–At the moment, it does look like an improving weekend weather-wise with sunshine by Saturday afternoon and lasting into Sunday with lowered humidity once again, but before we talk details let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in the Stop & Shop Plaza on King Street in Northampton, MA.

>>> MORNING DISCUSSION <<<
Good morning everybody, there’s not a ton to discuss today, but suffice it to say that after a late summer, humid and very warm day today with a few isolated showers or a storm, we are going to get a taste of Autumn late tonight and through Tuesday and Wednesday into early Thursday this week, the way it looks now.

Part of the reason for this is we have a huge upper high pressure system that is sitting over the middle 50% of the country and because air flows clockwise around highs in the northern hemisphere, our air will come out of the northwest where drier and cooler air is residing.

After a very warm day in the low to mid 80s today with increasing clouds and some air quality issues from wild fire smoke combined with a humid day (dewpoint temps will rise to the 65-70º range), we’ll see some isolated showers or a thunderstorm track southeast through the region this afternoon and evening.

After that, the cooler, drier air waiting in the wings will be pulled through the region tonight and into tomorrow with lows in the low to mid 50s tonight.

Tomorrow and Wednesday look like the picks of the week with highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s, very low humidity, and mostly sunny skies during the day, and mostly clear skies at night, so enjoy!

Thursday starts off similarly, with highs in the 70s and mostly sunny skies present, but clouds will increase and humidity will rise as our next system approaches our region.

By Thursday afternoon, humidity will increase as will clouds with periods of showers and some thunderstorms likely for Thursday night into and through Friday, but that period into Saturday morning will need to better refined as we get closer.

For now, expect some level of atmospheric inclemency Thursday night into early Saturday before a nice, drier, and cooler weekend arrives.

Have a great day!

>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
