DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
–Red Flag Warnings are up today due to a combo of dry air, warmer temps, dry ground and gusty winds that will make brush fires hard to contain
–60s and 70s today and tomorrow with gusty winds over that duration continue this fire spread risk
–Winds tamp down a bit late week, but temps come UP into the 70s and low 80s Thursday, and then fully into the 80s on Friday, when records may be broken
–Temps tamp over the weekend but still warm, as clouds build Sunday (Saturday’s the weekend pick)
–A cold front brings showers through Sunday night into Monday, and the heat pump is turned off as we cool down into next week, but before we jump into the weather story below, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in West Springfield, MA.

MORNING DISCUSSION
Good morning everybody, even though I imagine I’d only sell about 3 shirts, I’m foolishly envisioning a red shirt this morning with yellow lettering that simply says:
#MindYourBurnsButtsAndBarbecues
Highly inelegant, bordering on crass, far too long for a hashtag, but maybe I’ll just make it for myself.
Still, you get the point, I hope. Just a few years ago we had a pretty substantial burn up on a hill in Leverett, MA. We *do* get brush fires here, so be careful today with Red Flag Warnings up across the region.
As for the rest of what we can expect, double–dashes will be deployed without delay or dilly dally:
–A frontal boundary way north of us drops southeast and spreads mid to high clouds into the reigon
–Call it party sunny today with filtered sunshine over time
–As this front presses down toward high pressure to our south, a pressure gradient fosters westerly winds gusting 15-30mph today with highs in the 60s to low 70s
–Winds pick up a bit tonight, still out of the west, peaking 20-40mph with more clouds than clear skies around
–Lows will be mostly in the 40s to low 50s
–Tomorrow, that boundary passes east of our longitude, turning our wind more northwest, and gusting 20-35mph with continued fire spread risks under mostly sunny skies
–Highs again will be in the 60s to low/mid 70s, with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s
–The impact from that Canadian front tracks out of here, but the high to our south remains and the heat pump perfects itself, driving highs into the 70s to low 80s Thursday and then the 80s Friday, when records may be broken
–Sunshine is expected both days, but humidity will be tolerable so we have that going for us
–Lows will be in the 50s both nights, leading into the weekend
–Saturday will be the weekend pick with partly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 70s with lows in the 40s
–Clouds build Sunday as a strong cold front pushes east into the region with highs 65-70º
–Showers move in Sunday evening and overnight, and thunder is possible
–Early next week cools way down compared to late this week, with highs in the 50s to near 60º Monday, and then likely even cooler into the middle of next week as seasonable conditions return
–Heck, we can’t even rule out a snow shower in the Berkshires Monday or Tuesday night!
Have a great day!
BE KIND
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
