Good morning everybody, it’s chilly out there this morning! Lots of 30s west of the I-91 corridor and north of the Rt. 2 corridor in MA, VT and NH, with a number of low 30s noted, so no doubt some frost formed given that relative humidities are in the 90s of percent out that way.

Did you see frost? Let me know below.

As for our Saturday, there are some clouds moving in from the west, but with higher pressure moving in today, we should develop a mostly sunny day, with maybe partly sunny skies at times in the Berkshires and western hilltowns up into SVT.

Highs will be much cooler, only reaching the upper 40s to upper 50s, but compared to what’s coming next week, this weekend is going to be an oasis of autumnal loveliness.

For tonight, widespread frost is possible in many areas, even though the Frost Advisory is only posted for Hampshire and Hampden Counties.

High pressure will move overhead, winds will slacken, and skies are expected to clear to maximize radiational cooling, which refers to how the day’s heating of the Earth escapes back into Space when surface conditions are calm and dry, and skies above are clear. #buhbyeheat

Sunday is Autumn Perfection, with highs in the 50s, mostly sunny skies, and light winds, although clouds will be moving in from west to east later in the day.

At night, clouds will thicken rapidly as a warm front extends east off of a low pressure system that will gliding into the Ohio Valley and western PA.

Lows will hold in the low 40s, and rain showers will arrive after midnight, with a rainy Monday morning commute looking likely.

For Monday, this giant #RainFinger will swipe the WMass region with rainfall along a warm front that tries to push northeast into the WMass region, but with antecedent cooler air, I don’t think the warmth makes it in here, likely being suppressed southwest in southeast NY and southwest CT where temps could jump into the 60s.

For us here, more 50s for highs looks likely, and it’s a showery Monday almost certainly. Lows will drop into the 45-50º range with more rain expected, though it should taper late Monday night into early Tuesday to drizzle or light scattered showers.

However, that first part is just the warm frontal boundary focusing the rains over us. The second part comes Tuesday and Tuesday night when the core of the storm tracks just south of us as it reaches the coast, and brings heavier rainfall into the region for that period.

Highs Tuesday will rise into the mid to upper 50s with lows in the 40s, and it’s hard to see how we don’t end up with 1-4″ of rainfall by Tuesday night.

This will be a slow-moving system as the flow pattern will be more meridional vs. zonal, which just means more south-north vs. west-east. It’s the difference between a 2 foot swell in the sea vs. 50 foot monster waves – one flow is more buckled (meridonal) and therefore it’s slowed down, which will help keep the rain around this coming week.

We should see a lull this week, but I’m not sure exactly if that arrives Wednesday or Thursday, during which it will be mostly cloudy with little to no precipitation falling.

But by late week, a second and potentially stronger storm will move in with more heavy rain, and possibly wind as well.

Bottom line is that a stormy week likes ahead with plenty of clouds, rain, and seasonably cool temperatures mostly in the 50s for highs and 40s for lows.

It’s enough to break any homeowner’s or renter’s will around keeping the heat off until November, so whether you’re inside or outside, you’re gonna need to bundle up, because Autumn is finally HERE.

Have a great day, enjoy the weekend, and remember that link clicks are free, and if you want to check out or buy one or two of my local weather wall calendars, that’d be awesome.
