Quite A Light Show Last Night, Quite a Bright Day Coming Up

Good morning everybody, well that was quite a light show last night. Several times while I was driving home through the heart of that storm I gasped out loud! First of all, I can’t remember when I’ve heard thunder that loud with all the windows rolled up inside of my car. Secondly, that was some of the most vivid lightning I’ve seen, the kind that just stops you in your tracks and demands your complete attention. Really beautiful, and a bit scary.

But that’s all behind us, and off the coast now.

As for today, we’ve got clearing skies on the way, though a morning shower can’t be ruled out, especially to our east, and clouds could linger for a little while before giving way to mostly sunny skies and temps around 80 degrees for highs.

Drier air moves in today, and into the evening with lows down into the upper 50s, which will be great for sleeping. Friday and Saturday look very nice, too, with high temps again around 80 degrees, but by Saturday we will start to experience a return flow of humid air.

A strong ridge continues out in the Western U.S., and this will drive a shortwave up and over the top of it (meaning to its north), and this will then dig southeast and push into our area Saturday night and Sunday with a warm front, that will bring some showers to our area during this period.

So Sunday through Tuesday looks unsettled with showers and thunderstorms at times, but without the 90 degree heat we experienced yesterday.

After that, we look to clear out for Wednesday through the end of next week with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 80s.

Have a great day!
