One more day of muggy, showery weather, before a beautiful weekend arrives

Good morning folks, we’ve got one last unsettled day today. Although the main band of heavy rain as moved out of our area to the east, more scattered downpours and storms are possible this afternoon.

As a cold front approaches our area, we will still be on the warm and muggy side of this air mass, and with the combination of lift in the atmopshere (a/k/a “forced ascent”) because of the cold front, moisture, and instability, we will see some showers and scattered thunderstorms kick up again today. Highs around 80 degrees today, with clouds and breaks of sun.

The strongest weather should likely form to our south and east, though eastern Hampden and Hampshire counties could be on the western fringe, as the heaviest weather focuses in southeast MA, eastern CT and RI. No one will see as much rain today as we did overnight. Quite the deluge for a time!

The cold front slowly crosses our area this evening, and as it does, the air will begin to dry out, feel more comfortable, and cool down to around 60 degrees.

Friday through Sunday looks much more comfortable, and partly to mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 70s to 80 degrees. A great weekend coming up.

Next week the warmth and humidity will return, as will the threat for thunderstorms during mid-week. Summer has arrived! Have a great day.
