SUNDAY WEATHER REPORT:
Good morning everybody, we’ve got bit of a chillier day ahead with a mix of sun and clouds, and upslope snow showers have already developed over the Berkshires, Taconics and SVT.
These should continue in that region periodically through the day, and some will spill over into the Pioneer Valley as rain showers or mixed rain and snow depending on your elevation.
We’ve got an upper level system that continues to work through the region, with an Arctic cold front over western NY this morning that is tracking east which will sweep our region by late afternoon or so.
While west winds should gust 20-30mph at times today, we should notice the cold frontal passage late this afternoon and early evening as winds strengthen out of the west and northwest tonight, gusting up to 30mph or so.
We’ll see highs in the mid 30s to mid 40s today from north to south, high terrain to valley terrain.
In addition to the upslope snow showers, we may see a broken snow shower line or quasi-squall line work into the southern Berkshires, MassPike Corridor in WMass, and down into northwest CT east to Hartford with some heavier snow showers late afternoon into early evening, which could reduce visibility.
For tonight, temps will plummet into the teens and low 20s as upslope snow showers continue where a coating to an inch could fall by Monday morning, and 1-4″ in southern VT west of Brattleboro!

With continued wind gusts, wind chills will get down into the single digits below zero in the Berkshires and western hilltowns, and single digits above zero in the valley by early Monday morning.
Monday looks COLD and could break records for lowest max temperature for March 28th.
Highs should only reach the low 20s to low 30s with more clouds than sunshine and west winds gusting as high as 35mph, which means wind chills will only be in the teens during the day!
Bundle up, peeps!
Monday night will be the coldest we’ve seen in quite some time, and possibly the coldest we’ll see until the next cold season, with lows bottoming out into the low to mid teens under mostly clear skies, and winds still gusting to 25mph out of the west.
So again, wind chills will be down near zero, but luckily cold snaps this time of year tend to relent as quickly as they arrive.
For Tuesday, we’re milder as high pressure works into the region, and helps raise our high temps under sunny skies well into the 30s to near 40º — yes, still cold for this time of year, but moving in the right direction.

DHTWN TESTIMONIAL
“Hi Dave, I just joined your membership. I just wanted to reach out and let you know how much your forecasting means to me. Believe me, if I had the means, I would contribute much more. I work as a behavior therapist with kiddos that have autism and I commute between Vermont and Massachusetts, over a 100 miles a day and your forecasts have been a huge blessing to me. They have allowed me to avoid unsafe predicaments, have allowed me to stay safe and make informed decisions. If you got paid by how many times I say, “well Dave says…” then you would be in good shape lol. I mention you so often that my family members thought that I actually knew you in real life. Of course when I explained who you really were, I directed them right to your page. Us in the valley and surrounding towns are so lucky to have our very own personal weather man. I appreciate you and your work so much. Thanks Dave.” –Kelli H.

After one last cold night in the upper teens to low 20s Tuesday night, we really moderate on Wednesday as high pressure keeps moving east, and starts to develop a southerly flow in our region, bringing highs into the mid to upper 40s under mostly sunny skies.
By Thursday and Thursday night, we’ll be WELL into southwesterly flow with highs climbing into the 50s, but at the same time, a storm system will be tracking northwest of us and will and be swinging some rainfall through our region later Thursday into Thursday night, with showers ending on Friday.
The weekend looks cooler, but fair for now, with highs in the 40s to near 50º.
We also have to watch that first week in April for some late-season wintry precip, most likely in the high elevations, but we’re getting there, folks!
Have a great day, and please know that my 2022 Member Drive ends TONIGHT.
So, if you rely on my work, and have the means, and haven’t donated yet, I’m really counting and relying on you to help me achieve reaching my goal of just 4% of my readers contributing anything to help keep me in this daily weather reporting role for our community (I’m 85% of the way there as of Sunday morning).
It’s never a guarantee and always can end year to year (regardless of my desire to keep it up 365/24/7), unless folks step forward and help underpin my work, if you depend on it.
