Good morning everybody, we have one more very warm to hot day coming up today with highs in the upper 80s to 90 degrees in spots.

A cold front is approaching the area, but there is already a deep layer of cooler, drier air in the mid and and upper levels, and it’s not as humid at the surface.

Despite that, there’s still some lift in the atmosphere, and strong wind shear aloft as well, so some isolated showers and thunderstorms could form today, and one or two could be strong to severe, but the severe weather threat is much less today, so that’s good.

As the cold front crosses our area, we’ll have much nicer weather moving in for Thursday into the first half of Sunday, with drier conditions, cooler air, and a stable atmosphere. Plenty of summer sunshine!

Next week we could see a return to showers and thunderstorms, starting Sunday afternoon/evening, but mainly Monday and Tuesday, before another cooler pocket of air is driven into Western Mass by dare I say it, the Polar Vortex!

The funny thing is, the polar vortex has always existed, and is always in place, but we feel its influence from time to time, throughout the year.

Anyways, all in all, with the exception of possibly today, and early next week, we’re moving into some beautiful summer weather. Have a great day!
