DISCUSSION:
Good morning everybody, hope everyone had a nice weekend. We start off today with a sunny morning, but clouds are already on the increase as a strong low pressure system moves from the towards the Ohio Valley and eastern Great Lakes today and tonight. This storm is already bringing severe weather to the deep South, with a report of at least one tornado touched down in Mississippi.
We won’t see severe weather here, but a rumble of thunder is not out of the question tonight, as heavy rain will sweep in with a warm front that passes northward through our region later this evening. Because the low kicks off to our west, and high pressure will be out over the western Atlantic to our east, the pressure gradient between those two features will create some gusty winds, but nothing very strong. We could see gusts out of the southeast around 25mph or so at times tonight.
The rain should move in just after dark, and continue until just after dawn tomorrow, with rain totals of over an inch possible. Drier air will move in from the south and west, with the warm front past us, and although highs will be in the mid to upper 50s today, highs will reach the low to mid 60s tomorrow with clearing skies!!
FLOOD WATCHES are in effect for parts of NH and Maine, but those criteria do not appear that they will be met in southern New England and Western Massachusetts.
TEMPS:
Highs will be around mid to upper 50s and lows in the low 40s.
HUMIDITY:
Lots of moisture with abundant rain moving in.
WINDS:
Winds increase tonight, gusting to 25mph out of the southeast, tomorrow they gust to 30mph from the west.
CONDITIONS:
Increasing clouds today with rain and possible thunder moving into tonight, clearing tomorrow
TIMING:
Rain should reach Western Massachusetts just after dark, continue until early morning, then clear.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS:
Over an inch of rain is expected.
OTHER IMPACTS:
Possible fog for southeastern MA.
NEW ENGLAND:
Flood Watches in effect in NH and ME.
