YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, we have a blustery day ahead with expected northwest to north-northwest wind gusts of 25-40mph, which has prompted the hoisting of Red Flag Warninigs across MA, CT and RI, with elevated fire spread risk noted in SVT and SWNH.
Temps stayed a bit milder overnight, but they won’t budge much today. What you see is mostly what you’ll get with highs in the 40s across the region today under mostly sunny skies (maybe Hartford see 50º).
However, with those kinds of wind gusts, we’ll be feeling blustery and more like December with wind chills down into the 30s for many folks, at times when the wind is kicking up.
It’ll be breezy tonight as well, but winds should veer out of the north and gust to about 20mph at times, but will be decreased from today’s bluster thanks to steep low level lapse rates which will mix the wind down to the surface. Lows will plummet into the 20-25º range under clear skies.
For Wednesday, high pressure builds in, weakens the pressure gradient and fosters lighter wind with sunny skies and highs in the mid 40s or so. With calm wind at night, clear skies, and exceedingly dry air, our coldest night of the season will arrive with lows mainly in the teens to low 20s.
Thursday and Friday also feature fair weather with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s, and then by Saturday I’ll be watching an ocean low that will try to back in towards eastern New England.
This likely doesn’t make it as far west as CMass and northeast CT, so despite some increased clouds over the weekend east of the I-91 corridor, I think we’ll see continued fair weather with highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s.
No storms in sight folks, so the drought continues, and so does the risk for fire spread ix-nay on the urns-bay!
Have a great day!
