YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, as you know I normally stick close to home and leave the national coverage to others, but the images out of western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee and of course FL are very depressing this morning, with millions still without power.
Last time I checked, the entire city of Asheville, NC is cutoff from exit or entry due to flooded and/or washed out roadways. Up to 30″ of rain fell in a day over parts of the western Carolina region, and this has wiped some towns entirely off the map. It will take a very long time for people that remain to recover.
As for our weather, Helene’s remnant cloud deck over New England has been producing some amazing sunrises this morning.
Life is like that: a neverending suffering for some, and a delight for others, and then those (mis)fortunes switch around, as the ridges and troughs of life continue for humans… up and down we go. It truly is a circus, as Charles Bukowski said.
If I can find a legit way to support some of the recovery efforts down in the southeast U.S., I will post it on this page.
As for our weather, it’s super relaxed, thankfully.
While we could see a stray light shower late today or late tomorrow, we’re likely all dry with highs in the low to mid 70s today, and mid 60s to low 70s tomorrow with lows in the low to mid 50s both nights.
Skies will be partly sunny both days as high pressure drops south out of Maine and Atlantic Canada, helping to produce onshore flow that mixes with some of the giant, stretched-out outflow from Helene’s remnants, now centered over western KY, southern IN and southern OH.
Early next week looks dry, but with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s and lows in the 50s, with comfortable dew points in the 50s throughout.
By Tuesday night into Wednesday, a cold front that is tracking west to east (i.e. zonally) will gather up Helene’s residue and at this point should send it east through the Mid-Atlantic, staying mostly south of us.
Still, a showery period is expected mostly on Wednesday, with fair weather returning for the late week period.
Highs Wednesday through Friday looks to sit in the 65-70º range with lows in the 50s.
I hope you have a great day…
The worst is flooding
Wind, electricity, hail?
