YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, Debby has departed, and luckily only with one brief tornado touchdown in New Paltz, NY yesterday late afternoon by the Thruway (I-87) as an EF-0 spin up. A bit of property damage happened, from what I understand.
Going forward, the final showers pulled out of CMass this morning already, and now we have sunshine developing, but it’s still quite humid with dewpoints in the upper 60s to mid 70s.
Through the day, drier air from the west will continue to filter into our region and dewpoints should drop into the 60s by this afternoon as high temps climb into the upper 70s to mid 80s for what will become a calm, and nice summer day, pretty classic actually by mid to late afternoon.
Dewpoints continue to lower on westerly flow tonight with lows dipping into the mid to upper 50s under mostly clear skies as surface air freshens up.
Sunday will be the day when we REALLY feel the air mass change more clearly, with lower air temps (mid to upper 70s for highs) and lower humidity (dewpoints in the 50s), under partly sunny skies with some fair weather clouds in the afternoon that may produce a spot shower or two. Lows will dip to the 50s under clear skies, so open up those windows!
By Monday, we’ll have an upper low that’s now over the northern Great Lakes slowly tracking east and into northern New England. This feature has to get east of our longitude before we can get rid of shower chances for a couple of days, anyhow.
So Monday may feature some more scattered showers by afternoon with a lone thunderstorm possible, but it should still be pretty low humidity with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
Tuesday and Wednesday look dry with mostly sunny skies, and a bit warmer as highs climb into the mid 70s to low 80s.
The late week period looks pretty nice, too, with partly sunny skies, highs either side of 80º, tolerable humidity, and a few afternoon showers possible each day.
In other words, #NoBigWhoopWeather is on the way, so enjoy it, have a great day, and I’ll update the week’s weather tomorrow later afternoon or evening.
HAIKU OF THE DAY:
Debby’s impacts ebbed
Dry seeps, sun sprays, calm arrives
Fair weather ahead
