Western Mass Weather for February 4, 2019

QUICK EVENING UPDATE… SCATTERED SHOWERS POSSIBLE TOMORROW MORNING THEN QUITE WARM FOR EARLY FEBRUARY… (7:30pm Mon)
Good evening everybody, just a quick update to remind you that most of us should stay above freezing tonight with lows in the mid to upper 30s. However, a few spots may reach the freezing mark, and so a couple of very isolated black ice patches may form.

As low pressure whips through southeastern Canada tomorrow morning, some scattered rain showers will move through our flow, especially north of the Pike.

Behind this storm is warmer air, so highs should reach well into the 50s with a few low 60s possible tomorrow as morning clouds continue decrease during the day.

A cold front passes through and drops us into the 20s tomorrow night with more black ice possible as snow melt refreezes.

More on our Wednesday night into Thursday morning icing threat in tomorrow morning’s report.

Have a great night!

PATCHY BLACK ICE AND MORNING FOG BOTH DISSIPATE BEFORE NOON AS TEMPS RISE ABOVE 50 IN SPOTS TODAY… A FEW SHOWERS NORTH OF THE PIKE LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY TOMORROW MORNING LEAD TO A WARM DAY BY EARLY FEB STANDARDS… FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET EXPECTED IN THE HIGH TERRAIN WEST OF THE CT RIVER WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING, WITH MORE PLAIN RAIN THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY BEFORE WEEKEND COOL DOWN, AND POSSIBLE WINTRY STORM EARLY NEXT WEEK… (6:30am Monday)

Good morning everybody, the dawn is upon us, and The Bulletization Mobile is beeping its horn incessantly out my window, so in we jump!

SUMMARY
–Watch for slick spots this morning as high humidity, calm winds, and temps in the 20s in spots (along with some patchy fog) could form black ice
–Any ice threat ends by mid morning or so, as temps soar into the upper 40s to mid 50s today under mostly sunny skies
–Lows tonight should generally drop into the mid 30s with a few showers possible late as a cold front presses down from the south but doesn’t clear the area
–After Tuesday morning showers, we soar again with highs 55-60 under partly sunny skies
–A cold front makes it through for real Tuesday night, and drops us into the low 20s for lows
–Wednesday is a cooler day with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s… mostly sunny early but with clouds increasing later in the day
–Lows drop below freezing for some of us Wednesday night, thanks to a cold air damming setup with high pressure to our northeast, positioned in Atlantic Canada
–As a wave of low pressure moves through the flow, we could see an icing event develop with freezing rain and sleet, especially in the Berkshires, western hilltowns, SVT, etc.
–Icing could impact the Thursday morning commute for some, before precip quits before noon
–Highs on Thursday will be in the low 40s
–Another area of low pressure moves to our northwest and brings milder air and plain rain with lows in the 30s Thursday night and a rainy Friday with highs in the 40s
–A cold front blasts through Friday night with west winds gusting to 30mph and temps plummeting into the teens
–A cold but fair weekend is on tap with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s
–A more wintry storm is possible by early next week, but we’ll address that as we get closer

Have a great day!
