WINTER STORM WARNINGS NOW POSTED FOR SOUTHERN VT (EXCLUDING EASTERN WINDHAM)… WIND ADVISORIES POSTED FOR THE ENTIRE REGION FOR WEST WINDS GUSTING 40-50MPH TODAY… DENSE FOG ADVISORY POSTED FOR NORTHERN WORCESTER COUNTY… ACCUMULATING SNOW IN THE BERKSHIRES, TACONICS, LITCHFIELDS AND SVT THIS MORNING… (6:15am Wed)
Good morning everybody, I am under the weather today so if nonsense starts spewing out of me, you’ll know why. Take your vitamins and stay hydrated, kids!
SUMMARY
–Rain is changing to snow across the Berkshires, SVT, the Taconics, Litchfields and western hilltowns this morning
–A quick coating to 2″ is possible this morning, so some road ways may become slippery
–Current temps are in the low to mid 30s, so be aware of the normally-icy road way and driveway areas
–As I had stated yesterday, the Berkshires, Taconics, LItchfields, southern Greens and western hilltonws (especially in western Franklin County) are going to pick up anywhere from 2-6″ by tomorrow morning of new snow
–However, areas above 1000 feet in SVT could get even more than that, with 10″ of snow not out of the questions as upslope snow takes over as the main snow-producing device after our storm departs
–The other issue is going to be strong westerly winds that will gust 35-50mph at times today and tonight across the entire region. Some isolated outages are possible
–Highs will be in the low to upper 30s today with lows in the 20s
–After morning snow showers or flurries Thursday morning, we are entering a colder and drier pattern, with fair weather expected well into next week
–I will keep my eye on the Sunday storm potential, but right now it looks like a flat tracker, being pushed out to sea to our south
–Highs Thursday under partly sunny skies will reach the upper 20s to low 30s, with lows in the teens
–Highs Friday under mostly sunny skies as the core of high pressure and incoming cold snap sits on us reach the teens to low 20s with lows in the single digits, yikes!
–Highs Saturday under mostly sunny skies will be in the mid 20s with lows in the upper single and lower teens
–Sunday highs under partly sunny skies will be in the 20s. We can’t rule out a few snow showers south of the MassPike down into northern CT, otherwise dry
–Seasonable cold returns next week, with no sign of storminess until the middle of next week
We get through today, and then get a break from active weather.
Have a great day!
