EARLY MORNING ICING GIVES WAY TO RAIN TODAY, WHICH ENDS BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT… MILD TOMORROW, COLD SUNDAY, AND MORE RAIN FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE FESTIVITIES WITH A BRIEF ICY ONSET POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY IN THE HIGH TERRAIN… THE FUN NEVER STOPS… (7:35am Fri)
Good morning everybody, Winter Weather Advisories have been dropped in northern CT as we have warmed there, but continue until 9am across the rest of the region.
As you can see temps are still at or below freezing for a number of locations in our region this morning. Freezing rain will be the main concern for the next couple of hours, though we should be transitioning to rain if we haven’t already by 9am or perhaps 10am up in SVT. Any place up that way that happens to still have snow pack will have the biggest impacts.
What is it doing by you? Any icing causing slippery conditions in your town? Please let me/us know!
For the rest of the day, patchy fog will be possible and highs will reach the 40s. Some areas may push to near 40 but stay in the upper 30s, but most of us get above 40, me thinks.
Rainy, heavy at times, continues today and into tonight, but quits by midnight. Total rainfall should be above a half inch and below an inch, generally speaking. Lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.
The weekend looks great!
Saturday starts mild in the 40s under mostly sunny skies, but plummets behind a cold front and landing in the upper teens to low 20s tomorrow night. Some snow showers over the Berkshires are possible Saturday evening.
Sunday is cold but sunny, with highs near freezing, and lows near 20 degrees.
We cloud up on Monday as yet another storm system tracks northeast through the Great Lakes to our west, and brings rain back to the region Monday afternoon and during New Year’s Eve, unfortunately, so get your rain gear ready for First Night activities.
New Year’s Day looks mild with temps in the 40s, then we cool down again mid week with fair weather.
Have a great day!
