Western Mass Weather for December 1, 2018

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES CONTINUE FOR LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY TOMORROW MORNING…
(4:55pm Sat)
Good evening everybody, precipitation should be moving into the region between about 9pm and midnight from southwest to northeast, and it will start as a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain across WMass generally north of the Pike and west of I-91.

The higher you are in elevation, the more likely for slippery travel very late tonight, and very early tomorrow morning thanks to cold snow pack along with cold air damming that will keep colder air tucked in there for longer.

Current air temps are in the low to mid 30s, but some dew point temps are in the mid 20s, so as precip falls into such air, air temps could fall a bit more, allowing for a very light accumulation of snow and sleet to be possible before changing to freezing rain and plain rain.

Temps are looking tomorrow like they won’t rise as much as originally thought, so they should reach into the upper 30s to low 40s, as many areas change to plain rain showers. Steadiest precip should end around mid day as a dry slot punches through, but it looks like scattered showers will last through the afternoon.

Patchy fog develops tomorrow night with lows in the mid to upper 30s.

Monday is a final mild day with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s to low 50s under partly sunny skies before a cold front moves through with a few rain showers.

Tuesday through Saturday still looks dry, though cold. Tuesday will also be blustery as colder air advects into the region and stronger northwest winds.

Still storm potential for next Sunday, but not a lock at all.

Have a great night!

A NICE SATURDAY LEADS TO RAIN TONIGHT THROUGH MID DAY TOMORROW WITH A FEW SHOWERS THEREAFTER… WE START WITH ICE IN S.VT TONIGHT, AS WELL AS THE HIGH TERRAIN IN THE BERKSHIRES AND WESTERN HILLTOWNS…
(6:55am Sat)

Good morning everybody, we’re cold this morning with temps mainly in the 20s, and so some slippery spots are possible.

We will have a nice day with highs in the mid to upper 30s and partly to mostly sunny skies. Clouds will build late.

A storm system will pass well northwest of our region tonight and tomorrow. Lows tonight will drop into the low 30s, and as such will result in some sleet and freezing rain in SVT and other high terrain spots of WMass, southwest NH and NW.CT.

Otherwise, we can expect rainfall to accumulate about half an inch through the early afternoon on Sunday (you can see the shower shield still over the region by early afternoon tomorrow). Rain starts about 8pm or so this evening.

Sunday will be mild with highs well into the 40s, and lows near 40.

Monday is a great day, with mild temps reaching into the low 50s!

We should stay mostly dry through the upcoming week as colder air spills into the region for the period of Tuesday through next weekend.

This fresh cold air will set up the chance for a snowstorm by next weekend.

Have a great day!
