YOUR WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
–A storm moves up the coast this morning
–Dense fog in CMass and a few other places relents, but is replaced by increasing showers this morning
–Steadier rains are in by afternoon, with a possible late afternoon lull before more rain moves through early tonight, quitting by midnight
–Highs today rise into the mid to upper 40s with lows in the low to mid 40s as patchy fog redevelops in more widespread fashion
–Light east wind today/tonight gives way to a light southwest flow as our storm pulls away
–This should produce some sunny breaks Wednesday morning, and allow temps to shoot into the mid 50s to low 60s for highs before clouds increase in the afternoon
–Yet another storm system moves into our region from the south by Wednesday later afternoon and evening
–This storm will be more potent, contain a bit more moisture, and importantly will be accompanied by better upper level support, causing better lift and more rainfall production
–It will rain heavily at times Wednesday night into early Thursday morning with some street flooding possible in spots
–There is potential for additional rains on Thursday, certainly in the morning, but possibly even in the afternoon as well
–Rain totals between the two systems will drop between 1.5-3.5″ of rain, with the bulk coming from the Wednesday/Thursday storm
–Highs Thursday and Friday should be mostly in the 40s with some low 50s possible
–Friday is the pick of the week BY FAR with brief high pressure and plenty of sunshine
–However, by the weekend the third storm in our storm parade will be approaching from the west
–This one is different in that it won’t be a coastal storm per se, but a double barrel low, with the primary center moving into the Great Lakes and weakening
–This will spawn a secondary low to develop SOMEWHERE around New England
–With colder air building to our north, the weekend could become a valley rain / hilltown wet snow event, so stay tuned for updates!
YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, the Nutshell above covers most of the details, but the bottom line is we are moving into a stormy, rainy, wet pattern through the weekend with only one full day of sunshine expected, that being on Friday.
Between now and Friday we have not one but two rain storms to get through, but at least they won’t feature much wind (today’s storm features no wind, really).
Showers are gathering to our south and southwest, with a few patchy drizzle and foggy areas already into parts of our greater WMass region with temps in the 30s and 40s.
In fact, parts of SVT that are seeing fog with temps near freezing could see a bit of slippery surfaces, but that would be short lived, if it even develops.
Otherwise, showers increase as the morning wears on, really setting in by late morning into early afternoon with steady rainfall periods.
We may get a lil’ lull #LilLull by late afternoon but more rain should push in this evening before quitting by midnight.
Patchy fog looks to redevelop and it could be more widespread by early tomorrow morning.
Fog will burn off in the morning and with southwest flow, we should get some sunny breaks and milder temps in here for Wednesday morning, with highs quickly going to 55-60º or so.
Clouds will increase soon after that as a more potent southern stream system pushes up the coast and into our region with more rainfall by late afternoon into early evening, falling heavily at times at night and into the first part of Thursday with up to 1-3″ of rainfall expected.
This could lead to some ponding on the road ways, so if you’re out Wednesday night into Thursday, be alert to street flooding potential.
Friday looks sunny, and then the weekend looks inclement once again, and this time some wintry precipitation could be drawn into the mix (pun intended), with accumulating wet snow possible in the high terrain of northern MA either side of the CT River Valley up into SVT and SWNH, with mostly rain south of there.
Lastly by Sunday night into Monday, a period of lake effect snow showers should work through the region, so lots going on folks!
Please keep it tuned here, and if you value or depend upon my work and reports, you can support it below, as with your support I can keep it going in 2024 (options include Cards, PayPal, Venmo, or Check, thank you!)

>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
