YOUR WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
–A storm is passing to our south but has thrown a bit of light snow activity into our region this morning
–This has produced dustings in some areas, and healthy coatings in others especially south of the Pike where up to an inch has accumulated
–This area of snow will slowly wind down, but as another upper level wave moves into New England, scattered snow showers will be reinvigorated by mid-day through the afternoon
–Some snow showers may lay down additional light accumulations
–A snow squall may develop in this activity, and cause lowered visibility for a brief period, so just be weather aware this afternoon
–Northwest winds gust 15-30mph later today as our surface low and mid level wave pull east of the region
–Highs today will top out in the mid 20s to low 30s under mostly cloudy skies, with lows in the low to mid teens
–With wind gusts this evening, wind chills will be down in the single digits at times
–For Sunday, another round of upslope / lake effect snow showers is expected for the Berkshires and SVT, with some coatings possible as a final upper wave swings thru
–Behind that, winds back out of the southwest and gust up to 30mph Sunday afternoon with a bit more in the way of sunny breaks
–Highs again will be in the mid 20s to low 30s, with lows in the teens to low 20s
–Fair and cold weather with mostly sunny skies and breezy conditions is expected for Monday with highs in the mid 20s to mid 30s and lows in the teens
–Less wind is expected on Tuesday with milder highs in the mid to upper 30s with sunshine expected, and lows in the 20s
–Wednesday and Thursday look milder with highs in the mid 30s in the high terrain to low to mid 40s in the valley with fair weather
–By Friday, clouds should be building and we’ll be looking at some unsettled weather in that Friday to Sunday timeframe, and it could be wintry, so stay tuned for updates
YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, this weekend will be on the wintry side, with snow showers or periods of light snow today.
A storm that produced a narrow band of 8-14″ in PA and NJ, and brought up to half a foot to NYC is passing south of us, but it’s northern fringes as discussed produced some light snow up into CT and parts of WMass/CMass this morning with coatings, and up to an inch reported in northwest CT.
This morning activity has one more flex in it for southwest MA and northwest CT as the storm pulls away with additional very light accumulations, and a few snow showers elsewhere.
Otherwise, we’ll then look to the afternoon for additional scattered snow showers or a snow squall as an upper wave sweeps through.
Northwest winds will gust behind both systems about 15-30mph at times, and lows will plummet into the low to mid teens tonight with wind chill readings down into the single digits at times.
We should see a bit more in the way of partial sunshine tomorrow after a mostly cloudy day today, but additional snow showers from lake effect should dot the Berkshires, western hilltowns, SVT and NW.CT with some fresh coatings or so there.
Highs again will only top out in the mid 20s to low 30s with with breezy southwest winds by afternoon. Lows will drop into the teens to low 20s.
Sunshine returns with high pressure Monday through Thursday with partly to mostly sunny skies and breezy conditions on Monday, but as high pressure pushes in, winds should slacken Tuesday through Thursday, and temps should rise into the upper 30s to mid 40s.
Then by late week into the weekend I will be monitoring northern and southern stream waves that *may* combine into a coastal winter storm, but for now it’s just a signal that I will continue to watch and update you on for that Friday through Sunday period.
Have a great day, and as you may know, my 10th annual Support Drive has launched today. This page would’ve gone dormant years ago without your support, so please chip in whatever is comfortable for you at the secure link below, even $5 helps, thank you…

>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
