YOUR WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
–An upper ridge (i.e. area aloft of higher than average pressures) pushes east with surface high pressure
–This produces another mostly sunny day, though maybe more partly sunny in eastern parts of CMass and CT
–Highs climb to the mid 30s to low 40s, with lows in the lows 20s under partly cloudy skies
–Thursday is our last mostly sunny day, so get out and soak up the rays my friends
–High pressure will be south of us and a milder southerly flow will develop, pushing highs into the low to mid 40s, with lows in the mid to upper 20s as clouds increase
–By Friday, we’ll be in the clouds for the most part, as a warm front begins its approach toward New England
–Highs again will reach the 40s, and while unlikely, we could see a spot shower in the afternoon as the warm front comes through
–This front along with cloudiness will keep temps up at night, only bottoming out into the mid 30s for many of us
–By Saturday, we are fully in the mild sector of a storm passing well north of us, along with its warm front having passed well northeast of us
–This should allow temps to spike into the 50s, and if things really align, we can’t rule out a few 60º readings for a day
–Scattered showers will move in at night as the northerly storm’s cold front passes through with lows in the mid to upper 30s
–Mild air lingers on Sunday (though cooleer behind the front) with highs in the 40s with some partial sunshine expected
–Then we turn to Monday and Tuesday when colder air will be waiting in the wings to our northwest
–A storm will be developing through the Tennessee Valley, and could track in such a way as to produce accumulating snow in our region, but it’s still many days off, so just a signal to continue to monitor for now
YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, I hope things go your way today and that you’re able to raise your ‘brows when facing any vexing or challenging situations. I forget to do it all the time, but when I remember, it always helps. I’m sure there’s some brain chemistry at work that I can’t scientifically articulate, but it’s worth a try.
As for our weather, more sunshine is on the way, woo hoo!
We’ve got two more days (today and tomorrow) to enjoy in this multi-day sun streak, and given that temps will rise above the 40º mark today and tomorrow for many of us, I would encourage walks in the woods, or walks anywhere, really… get some oxygen flowing!
Lows tonight will dip into the low 20s, so it’ll be a chilly start tomorrow morning for sure, but the last wintry cold night for several days as The Mildening moves in for a spell.
This increase in temps in the region will be due to a storm passing well north of us, which will float its warm front into our region Friday afternoon and night.
So with sunny highs on Thursday in the low to mid 40s given the arrival of surface high pressure and its passage south of us (with lows in the mid to upper 20s Thursday night), temps on Friday will come up further into the 40s as the warm front passes through, which also brings back the clouds.
#SendInTheClouds
A spot shower is possible later Friday, and notably, low temps Friday night will hang above freezing for many of us behind the front.
This sets us up for a Spring-like Saturday with high temps spiking into the 50s, and possibly the mid to upper 50s.
Do we hit 60º?
I can’t rule it out at this point.
Clouds continue Saturday, and then our storm’s cold front will be swinging our way and pass through Saturday night into the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning, which will bring scattered showers through our region.
Sunday sits back down into the 40s for highs, with hopefully some sunny breaks.
By Monday, however, I’ll be watching a southern stream storm system ejecting northeast out of the Deep South, and headed for the Mid-Atlantic coastline.
At this point, if the storm is a miss, it’s most likely a miss out to sea to our south, not an inland runner that brings rain.
This storm is still 5-6 days away, so it could turn into nothing, but the potential continues to slowly increase for accumulating snow for Monday night into Tuesday, so stay tuned for updates.
One thing looks fairly certain, and that is colder air moves in behind that storm into mid to late next week, and the back half of February into early March is showing the potential for more wintry weather and patterns.
Have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
