YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, I am jumping right in today as the storm is upon us, and it is tracking more up the Hudson Valley than over the Berkshires or the CT River Valley, which means the wind component is more likely to increase.
While some folks won’t see gusts that reach 40mph, max wind gusts are likely to increase to 40-65mph this morning, and you will hear the roar of the lower level jet streak that is inflowing to the low center as it tracks west of us.
In addition, air temperatures have rapidly climbed into the mid 50s to low 60s early this morning.
This means there will be no inversion as is typical with these southeasterly-flow storm events, like last week, which barely produced any wind.
That will not be the case this time.
As I alluded to last night, wind is coming up, as are outages.
In addition, we already have over 2″ of rain in many areas, and more is on the way, and flash flooding will likely occur in at least isolated areas, but may increase in coverage as well, along with ponding on road ways and street flooding.
PLEASE be careful out there today, in wind gusts of these magnitudes, trees or tree limbs will be felled, so you must exercise ALERTNESS when on the road ways to try and optimally avoid bigger problems.
Rain and wind will increase over the next 6-8 hours, and you will hear the roar of the low level jet a half mile up blowing 70-90mph with roughly two-thirds of those speeds reaching the ground.
Be safe and stay aware this morning into the afternoon, I will update later this morning, Dave
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
