YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning humans, we’re still respirating if we’re reading this post (myself included) so that means we might have a good moment or two today, and we might even crack a smile or raise a ‘brow, and I wish that for you.
As for our weather, we start off with early morning sunshine, but clouds quickly increase as the morning wears on with a fast-moving fairly flat-tracking (i.e. west to east) storm system which will provide a modicum of rain to us by Saturday morning, as in under a quarter of an inch (and for some, under a tenth!).
Highs today will reach the 45-50º range with light southerly flow. Rain arrives by mid to late afternoon, and quits by midnight, with lows expected to drop into the lower to mid 30s with a few fog patches possible.
For Saturday, a drying trend will be underway, but we should still be dealing with a mostly cloudy day and a few breaks of sunshine with highs either side of 50º – the pick of the weekend for sure!
Clouds thicken Saturday night, as lows drop into the mid to upper 30s, and a few pre-dawn showers will be possible.
Then I’ll be watching low pressure develop near the Mid-Atlantic coastline on Sunday, which occurs after an initial shortwave tracks northeast into our region for Sunday morning bringing the chance for showers, which could affect the Hot Chocolate Race runners between 8am-Noon in Northampton.
So Sunday is looking quite wet, with a period of showers Sunday morning, likely then blooming into a steadier/heavier rain fall later in the afternoon and evening as the Mid-Atlantic storm picks up speed and strength.
Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s, but northerly flow will be developing and by later Sunday into Sunday night could flip rain to snow in the high terrain of the western hilltowns, Rt. 2 corridor, northern Berkshires and southern VT/NH.
So, while a low chancer, some accumulating snow is possible Sunday night into Monday morning, as the rest of us deal with rainfall with lows in the 30s.
After morning showers, we may climb to either side of 40º before a Canadian cold front swings through the region, and drops into the 20s at night, and then into the low to mid 30s for highs Tuesday through Thursday with plenty of fair weather throughout as high pressure builds into the region. Lows will dip to either side of 20º during this period, so winter chill is returning!
Thereafter, though a long way out, we may see a warm front pushing moisture into and over this cold dome of air, which may produce an overrunning setup and a period of light to maybe moderate snow sometime Friday or Friday night, so stay tuned for updates and have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
