YOUR WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
–Partly sunny today with highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s with a dry cold front swinging through
–This drops temps by late afternoon and evening, and northwest wind may gust up to 25mph, putting a bite to the wind
–Lows tonight in the mid teens to low 20s with some wind chills in the high terrain approaching single digits
–Mostly sunny tomorrow with highs in the 30s, and lows in the upper teens to low 20s
–Some sun early on Sunday with milder highs in the low to mid 40s as high pressure scoots south of us
–Said high kicks east, and allows a coastal low to track northeast near the Cape Sunday night with lows in the low to mid 30s
–While areas north of the Rt. 2 corridor in far northern MA, SVT and SWNH could see a coating of ice and/or snow, most see rain from this event, even though we’re on the storm’s “cold side”
–Rain moves through late Sunday night into Monday, and quits by evening, with highs in the 40s
–Gusty winds develop Monday night into Tuesday as temps plunge back down into the 30s for Tuesday and Wednesday
–Northwest fetch may develop lake effect snow showers, which could make it to the Berkshires or SVT at that timie
–Otherwise, Tuesday through Friday looks fair and cold with highs in the 35-40º range, with another chance of showers by the following Saturday, but before we talk details let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in the Stop & Shop Plaza on King Street in Northampton, MA.
YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing Thanksgiving yesterday! I love to cook, but I’m not the best at timing things out and in the middle of cutting my 293rd brussel sprout I got a bit bleary eyed, and thankfully my sweetie saw this impending disaster, took over, and pushed my initial efforts through the finish line while I Netflix-napped on Mike Birbiglia’s new comedy special, which is as awesome as he ever was. Love him! But I love her more.

Anyway, I hope it was a good day for you! As far as our weather, it’s fairly pedestrian for the next 7-10 days, save for one rain storm that will sweep the region this coming late Sunday night into and through Monday, which may start as some sleet or snow in the MA towns that border southern VT and southwest NH, on up into SVT/SWNH.

Before that, we have today to live through, and it looks like a partly sunny day with a gorgeous sunrise for some with highs peaking in the upper 30s to mid 40s before a dry cold front slices through and drops temps down into the teens and low 20s on gusty northwest winds later on into the evening.

Said winds may drop high terrain wind chills down into the single digits, and that’s no fun at all! But we’re New Englanders, for cripes sake, and we can handle it!

The weekend features high pressure moving into the region, with mostly sunny skies Saturday, which will be cold, with highs only in the 30s as wind slackens. Lows will drop to the upper teens to low 20s.

Sunday is the weekend pick, and will be dry all day with highs in the 40s, though we’ll see early sun give way to clouds by late afternoon and evening with lows in the low to mid 30s.

We’ll see a coastal storm eject somewhere off of the eastern seaboard between the Carolinas and the DelMarVa Peninsula and track northeast toward the Cape, which will push rainfall into our region late Sunday night.

It may be cold enough at onset to produce some snow or sleet in far northern MA, SVT and SWNH, but even there will change to rain by Monday morning. Still, a coating to an inch or so is possible.

Monday is rainy with highs well into the 40s, and then another sharp cold front will swing through Monday night behind the storm with northwest gusts and lows in the mid to upper 20s.

Tuesday and Wednesday look mostly dry and cold with highs in the 30s, and some lake effect snow showers may dot the Berkshires, western hilltowns, the Taconics and SVT.

Otherwise, we can expect a fair weather flow for Monday night through the rest of the week, with the next chance for a visitation of atmospheric inclemency to arrive that following Saturday.

As Mary Tyler Moore’s show theme crooner sang, we’re gonna make it after all *insert closing melody here, then a cute meow*

Have a great day!

>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
