YOUR WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
–Back edge of rain and icing is moving northeast from eastern NY through our region
–Icing in some high terrain areas of the western hilltowns, Berkshires and SVT on top of snow will cause some slick travel
–Rain and drizzle elsewhere on top of snow makes for slushy roads, with just wet roads along and south of the Pike
–We generally saw 1-4″ as previously thought, but please let me know if you saw some higher outliers, like a 5″ or 6″ amount
–Precip quits by noon today as dry slot moves in
–Highs reach the mid to upper 40s with northeast wind gusting 15-30mph at times
–Lows tonight in the low to mid 30s
–Thanksgiving Day looks to become mostly sunny with highs in the 40s with a breezy northwest wind, and lows near freezing
–Friday through Sunday looks fair and mostly sunny but cool, and even cold on Saturday
–Highs will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s Friday and Sunday with highs only in the low to mid 30s Saturday, with Friday night lows in the teens
–Next chance of a storm is a coastal low center off of the Carolinas that makes a run at Nantucket Sunday night into Monday with rain and snow possible, but before we talk details let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in the Stop & Shop Plaza on King Street in Northampton, MA.
YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning folks, it was a wet snow, but it sure was super pretty! And now it is super slushy for many of us, and still icy for others in the western hilltowns, parts of the Berkshires and SVT/SWNH this morning.

How much snow did you measure before bed last night? I imagine compaction has occurred with slightly milder temps and sleet or rain falling on top of what accumulated. And folks in Springfield points east and south are like “what snow are you talking about?” as they saw mostly rain.

The whole mess wraps up before noon today, so roads will improve as the day wears on, and with highs climbing into the mid to upper 40s.

It will be breezy as well, especially in the high terrain, with gusts 15-30mph today as we slowly start to dry out into tonight, with lows in the low to mid 30s.

For Thanksgiving Day, our wintry mix storm will be long gone, and we’ll be left with mostly sunny skies, northwest breezes, and highs in the 40s with lows near freezing, which is good news for those traveling the day of… I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

Friday through Sunday puts us into a zonal flow across the northern part of the country, with west to east flow, fair weather, and no storms to speak of — just mostly sunny conditions, and cool temperatures with highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s Friday.

Friday night into Saturday will see a reinforcing cold shot of air with lows in the teens, and highs only in the low to mid 30s, with a bit of a milder, sunny Sunday with highs in the low to mid 40s.

Thereafter, a coastal storm will likely develop off of the Carolina coast. How far north that development commences will be key in determining how much of an impact it could have on our region.

For now, it looks like it will pass over or south of Nantucket, which would put us on its northwestern periphery with light snow or rain depending on elevation, but I will fine tune this as we get closer. After THAT, it looks like more fair weather with continued cool conditions as we head towards December, and the onset of Winter.

Have a great day!

>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
