YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, we’ve had an unexpected heavier burst of rain, sleet and freezing rain that came through with a wave that developed in NY and even brought thunder and lightning to the west of the Berkshires earlier this morning!
That batch of heavier precip is now in the valley and tracking rapidly east, and is responsible for a burst of mixed rain/sleet in the valley.
With combined with temps in the upper 20s to low 30s in the Berkshires, western hilltowns, far northern MA, and SVT / SWNH it has likely produced freezing rain and ice glazes up that way, with some sleet mixed in, but please post your reports below so we can all get a sense of some “ground truth” across the region.
Behind this heavier burst, we’ll see scattered showers of rain and icing depending on elevation and temperature, and this will last through the morning, with icing especially pronounced in far northern MA, southern VT and southwest NH where a solid ice glaze could cause travel issues, especially on bridges and overpasses, so I-91 travels in southeast VT should be alert.
By mid-day, only some isolated showers should remain, and the rain will wane by early to mid afternoon with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s, and some drizzle possible under mostly cloudy skies.
For tonight, lows will drop squarely into the 30s with mostly cloudy skies and west winds starting to pick up as high pressure pushes in from the northwest and increases the pressure gradient.
Friday looks breezy, with westerlies gusting 15-30mph under mostly cloudy skies and highs in the 40s, with some sunny breaks late. Lows will dip into the upper 20s to low 30s as clouds break up.
The weekend looks lovely, but cold! Highs will only be in the mid 30s to mid 40s with lows deep into the 20s with more freezes coming up, but at least it will be resplendently sunny!
And while there’s a low chance for showers on Tuesday, it looks increasingly like it will miss us, which could push our fair weather stretch from Friday all the way through next Wednesday!! Woo hoo!!
Here’s hoping… please post your reports below, and have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
