YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, I’m wishing for you a day that goes your way today, even once during the day, because once would be better than “nonce”: a new word I just made up that is a/k/a “zero”.
Clearly, it’s a word that no one, including myself, will ever use again, but it’s my little gift to you in this ephemeral experience called life for today.
In terms of our weather, baby it’s cold outside!!
We’ve had northwesterly wind gusts mainly in the 20-35mph range overnight, though we did clock a gust at 41mph at the Pittsfield Municipal Airport in Berkshire County.
In fact, wind chills are in the teens and 20s this morning so bundle up!
Northwest and northerly winds will continue to gust this morning, but as a slim wedge of high pressure floats into our region, the pressure gradient will ease and winds will slacken by early to mid afternoon.
Highs will only crest up and into the 40-45º range under mostly sunny skies, and wind chills will be down in the 30s for a good part of the day, so again, dress the part today.
Clouds will increase tonight ahead of a low pressure system that will track east northeast through the eastern Great Lakes region and into northern New England.
Winter Weather Advisories have been hoisted for Berkshire County and all of SVT.
However, the trend has been to take the steadier portion of the precip shield a bit more northerly into VT and NH which mean less impact to southern New England including WMass and points east and south.
We’ll also have a very dry air mass in place as light precipitation comes into the region, so I would say unless you are along and north of Route 2 in Berkshire, Franklin, and Worcester Counties on northward into VT and NH, precip should be more scattered and very light, with a chance for up to half an inch or snow of snow/sleet and light ice coating/glazes.
This is not a major event, folks, but could cause some slippery areas into the pre-dawn hours, especially in southern VT and southwest NH and far northwest MA.
The valley south into northern CT and east into CMass should see some sleet/rain mix, changing to light rain showers tomorrow morning.
Lows tonight will drop to the low to mid 30s, and light rain showers will be possible into Thursday afternoon before it quits. Highs tomorrow will be in the 40s with lows in the 30s.
Friday looks windy behind our departing low pressure system with highs either side of 50º with more clouds than sun, with lows in the upper 30s.
The weekend looks LOVELY, but cold with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s which should extend into Monday and Tuesday, so we’ve got a nice and seasonable fair weather stretch coming up after tonight’s light wintry event.
I will update later about tonight’s event, but until then, have a great day!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
