>>> DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL <<<
–Southerly to southeasterly flow brings scattered showers through the region today at times
–Highs will reach the 60s and then fall later this evening behind the cold front
–As the front presses into the region from the west, rain expands in regional coverage and picks up in intensity with moderate to heavy rain at times late this aftenroon and tonight
–Showers lift northeast and away by midnight or so with lows dipping into the mid 40s to low 50s
–Winds will back to the north, and then west-northwest by tomorrow morning, gusting 20-35mph at times
–Anywhere from a third of an inch for areas well east of the I-91 corridor up to 2″ in the Berkshires and western hilltowns into SVT and NWCT is possible
–Sunday looks partly sunny with a spot shower possible and highs only in the mid 50s to low 60s and with lows dropping to the upper 30s to low 40s
–Monday looks gorgeous but Autumnal with sunny skies and highs mostly in the 50s with lows either side of 40º
–A wave brings some scattered showers Tuesday, and then we will see slightly milder temps work in with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s mid to late week
–Thereafter, a storm system ejecting out of the Rockies may combine with upper level energy to produce yet another rainy Saturday, but before we get into the details let’s check a note from our local weekend sponsor, #GerardGhazeyBatesPC, an estate planning law firm in Northampton, MA.

>>> MORNING DISCUSSION <<<
Good morning everybody, we have yet another gloomy start to the weekend ahead, although I don’t foresee tons of rain for everybody.
The folks that should see the most from our cold frontal passage are those in the Taconics, the Berkshires, western hilltowns, Litchfield County CT and SVT with up 1-2″ of rainfall. Lower amounts of rain, roughly between a third and an inch of rain should fall along and east of the CT River Valley.
Where that heaviest stripe of rain sets up exactly is uncertain so those numbers may change a bit, but that’s generally what we’re looking at.
A cold front presses east into the region today with scattered showers streaming north ahead of it, with periods of dry weather today as well, albeit with overcast skies.
Highs will only reach the 60s, and after a morning into the middle afternoon period of scattered showers at times, the rain should start to pick up in areal coverage and intensity by late afternoon and into the evening as the front moves through, with temps dropping tonight.
Rain should get out of here by midnight or so, and lows will drop to the mid 40s to low 50s as westerly winds gust 20-35mph with cooler air advecting into the region for Sunday.
Temps won’t rise much tomorrow with highs in the low 50s to perhaps near 60º for some under partly sunny skies with a spot shower or two possible in the afternoon.
Lows will bottom out to either side of 40º, so a chilly morning with lighter wind is expected to kick off Monday.
Monday looks like the pick of the next 4 days for sure with sunshine and highs 55-60º and lows again either side of 40º as clouds increase late at night.
A frontal wave spinning off of the upper low near the Great Lakes will bring a round of showers through on Tuesday with highs in the mid 50s to low 60s.
By Wednesday, we’ll likely enter a 3-day fair weather stretch with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s and partly sunny skies on average, with a few showers possible late on Friday.
The unfortunate news is more rainy signals for next Saturday, which I hope doesn’t come to pass, but for now, that’s what I’m looking at.
I do not see any warm-ups coming folks, if anything, it looks like we’ll step even cooler during the second half of the month, but we’ll track it together 7 days at a time, and I will keep you update.
Have a great day, and if you’ve got dinner or other plans tonight, just pack some rain gear for yourselves.
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
