>>>POST SECTIONS<<< --DHTWN's Reminder ('Brows Raisin') --Weekly Nutshell (Overall impact list) --Sponsor Note (Tandem Bagel Co.) --NWS Alerts (Advisories, Warnings, Watches) --Celestial Data (Sun/Moon info) --Regional Summaries (Local expectations) --Morning Discussion (Detailed Weather Story) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >>> DHTWN REMINDER <<< We just went through some rough weather, and this afternoon is sort of the last gasp of that pattern. I understand life is a struggle for many of us, but I always find that if I can remember when I wake up to raise my eyebrows as I first look around my bedroom and think about the day, and put a small simple smile "on", it helps set a more positive, or at least hopeful tone to the outlook of the day. What if it ends up only giving you 5-10 minutes of a better mood than you otherwise would have had? I call that progress, a win, a good thing. Life is rough mostly, but we have some relative control in our response to what we face. Hang in there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >>> DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL <<< --Morning showers are weakening into the WMass region this morning, though they're a bit robust in S.VT & parts of N.CT --These wash out into the region, and we're left with a lull --By afternoon, especially mid to late, more showers, downpours and thunderstorms form ahead of a cold front --Some storms may become strong to severe, and we can't rule out an isolated weak tornado, or straight line wind damage --Isolated flash flooding is also a concern, which is why Flood Watches are up for SVT --Showers and storms wind down tonight, then a beautiful weekend arrives --A few scattered showers are possible Saturday afternoon, but Sunday looks to produce more sunshine, a dry day, and low humidity! --This extends into Monday, with some scattered showers or storms Tuesday, but not a washout --Then a more traditional summer pattern sets up by mid week, and may help produce our first heat wave by late next week into the following weekend, but before we talk details let's check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in the Stop & Shop Plaza on King Street in Northampton, MA. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >>> A NOTE FROM OUR SPONSOR <<< Dave Hayes The Weather Nut is Sponsored by Individual Community Members, Patrons & Tandem Bagel Company... Can you feel how this recent, brutal flooding wet weather pattern is breaking? I'm not saying it's not coming back. Sometimes the atmosphere can "reload" after taking a breather, before it sort of falls back into place Sometimes the atmosphere "remembers", but for now, we're completely waning from that pattern, with one last shot of isolated flash flooding this afternoon with a cold frontal passage prior to heading into at least a short-lived traditional summer pattern late next week with a Bermuda high building into the western Atlantic which means heat is coming, but not before we get a sweet weather period from Saturday into Tuesday, with Sunday and Monday being PRISTINE. For today, we're starting off mostly cloudy as a washing-out frontal boundary is pushing a few showers through the regioni this morning. Some may be briefly heavy (especially northern CT and SVT/SWNH) but we'll be in a drying trend by mid-morning. After that we'll have to see if we can generate any sunny breaks through the cloud deck, to see how much instability can develop ahead of the cold front that passes through the region by tonight. Once we get to early to especially mid afternoon, we should see more showers and thunderstorms developing, and a few may become strong to severe with either isolated damaging wind possible, or isolated flash flooding, with SVT particularly prone through this evening. Highs will reach the mid 70s to low 80s from north to south today. Showers and storms wane tonight, with lows dropping into the upper 50s to mid 60s. For Saturday, ridging starts to build into the region, but a bit of leftover instability and moisture leads to a few afternoon scattered showers possible under partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s, with most folks remaining dry. Lows will be in the mid 50s for the best night of sleeping weather in eons. Sunday is the Pick of the Year, with highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s, low humidity, light wind, and tons of sunshine: you just couldn't ask for a more perfect summer day! Lows will be in the upper 50s. Monday is a repeat of Sunday, though a few degrees warmer, so expect another 24 hours of awesomeness! By Tuesday, a weak front will bring the chance of a few afternoon showers or storms, but not a big deal at all the way it looks now, with highs in the 80s as humidity increases into Wednesday. More fair weather is expected mid to late week as a Bermuda high retrogrades west toward the eastern seaboard and Carolina coastline, which will set up a southwesterly heat pump by late week. This will definitely increase the heat and humidity, but for now, it looks like fair weather will also accompany this increase in summery goodness, and may result in a fair weather heat wave Thursday through Saturday with some folks seeing the low 90s for three days in a row, with the rest of us in an 85-90º range with 60s to near 70º for lows at night. So, let's just get through today's showers and storms, and I will keep you updated later today as to those potential impacts, and then we're off to the fair weather races! We deserve it after this brutal first month of Summah!!! Have a great day, Dave. >>> BE KIND <<< “Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you've got to be kind.” --Kurt Vonnegut
