>>> DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL <<<
--Air quality continues to be poor this morning, with varying amounts of haze and smoke today
--Visibility is down to 2 to 5 miles in haze
--Temps in the 40s and 50s rise into the 60s later today
--Scattered afternoon showers with a few rumbles of thunder expected
--Cool and in the 40s tonight with a better chance for more numerous showers and t-storms Friday afternoon, some with small hail
--Our upper low loosens its grip on us Saturday into Sunday as its last batch of showers exits stage right Saturday, bringing a summery, sunny Sunday with highs 75-80º!
--Monday is equally as warm but clouds build with a few showers, and then we really get into some rainfall Monday night into Tuesday and possibly Wednesday as well, but for now let's check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in the Stop & Shop Plaza on King Street in Northampton, MA.

Until then, the smoke that has been directed into our region on the northerly flows of said upper low will be bandied about the region leading to poorer air quality, but I don't see any new, thick plumes of the type that turned NYC down into the northern Mid-Atlantic and up into central NY yesterday into a Martian hellscape. For our weather today, mostly cloudy skies are expected and scattered light showers this morning should amount to little to no impact, with more robust scattered showers or even a thunderstorm expected to develop this afternoon due to strong lapse rates and broad lift thanks to our low. Highs will climb into the 60s and lows will bottom out in the 40s as below-average temps continue for early June. Expect similar temps tomorrow, but with a shortwave diving southeast on the west-side of our upper low and with continued strong lapse rates, more in the way of showers and thunderstorms will fire tomorrow afternoon, and some small hail is possible. By Saturday, our upper low is finally going to be cleared to the east thanks to an incoming ridge of high pressure driven by westerly Pacific flow, though we can still expect some more showers that day with highs near 70º and lows near 50º. Sunday is DEFINITELY the pick of the weekend, and with any luck, we might see some deeper blue sky with mostly sunny skies expected and highs reaching the 75-80º range as smoke is redirected elsewhere. Monday is warm too, but the fair weather is short-lived, as yet ANOTHER upper low (the third in this new pattern change) drops into the Great Lakes this time and tracks slowly east, pushing a frontal boundary towards us which will bring (hopefully) a soaking rainfall Monday night into Tuesday, with another secondary storm possibly pushing more rain into the region on Wednesday. I will update as we get closer, but that's how it looks now. Folks with respiratory issues need to continue to practice caution in these air quality conditions, especially today and tonight. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Hope you have a great day. >>> BE KIND <<< “Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you've got to be kind.” --Kurt Vonnegut
