MORNING DISCUSSION
Good morning everybody, there’s isn’t a whole ton to pore over this morning, as our cool, cloudier, and more showery pattern caused by our second slow-moving upper low in as many as weeks is already south of New England with the surface low southeast of Nantucket.

These features that have had their damp grip on us for this week are heading out to sea now, but will provide a parting shot today into Friday morning before pulling fully away.

Because of the low pressure systems positions both aloft and at the surface, we will develop a northerly and northeasterly flow today and tonight, which will keep us cooler.

In addition, the air just a mile above our heads is BELOW freezing, so we’ll likely hang in the 40s for highs today, provided we remain mostly cloudy or overcast, which is expected currently. If we can muster any sunshine, we could pop into the low 50s or so.

Scattered showers are expected, but coverage should be less numerous than recent days as this system weakens and pulls away. Lows tonight will be either side of 40º.

As for Friday, any morning clouds or isolated showers should give way to some sunny breaks tomorrow (though it may stay mostly cloudy in the high terrain due to remnant moisture).

Highs should climb into the 50s, with the southern valley down into Hartford possibly cresting 60º with lows again either side of 40º.

Some ridging starts to build into the region over the weekend as our upper low continues its jaunt out to sea, which begets more sunshine through the weekend (more on Sunday than Saturday) with highs in the 60s Saturday and mid 60s to low 70s on Sunday! Hooray!!!

These conditions continue into early next week with fair weather, mostly sunny skies and 60s to low 70s with light northwesterly wind.

By mid-week we could see that ocean-bound upper low swing back west toward Cape Breton and Nova Scotia and bring some cooling to the region. In addition, a few showers are possible with a frontal passage that will then finally and forever sweep that upper low away into the historical and meteorological dustbin with slightly cooler temps.

All in all, though, next week is looking a lot better and nicer than the last two, with no frosts in sight. You can never say never with frost potential until Memorial Day, generally, but hopefully we’re done with such chilly morning temps going forward.

Have a great day, and I hope things go your way!

BE KIND
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
