–Folks, we’ve got some light on the horizon for those peeps ready to enjoy milder and sunnier conditions
–However, that is an entire week away, so for now, that dangled meteorological carrot will have to sate you until next Sunday
–Meanwhile, on this Rainday we’ll have more…. rain
–We’re starting off in the 40s with patchy drizzle, a wet ground, and patchy fog, some of it dense
–There are also a few light showers around, and this will be the case this morning into about early afternoon
–Highs will rise into the mid to upper 50s, and easterly winds will gust up to 25mph before tonight, when they will increase to 25-40mph, with some 40+ gusts in the Berkshires and SVT where Wind Advisories are up for this evening
–As the day wears on, developing secondary low pressure near the Carolinas will deepen rapidly as its hurled around the southeast flank of an upper low and stacked low pressure system near the Great Lakes
–This means the low will be flung north-northeast into the Berkshires, essentially, and an area of heavy rain showers will lift north with it, along with some thunderstorms, and strengthening easterly wind this later afternoon and evening
–This easterly flow will enhance rain totals in the western hilltowns and eastern Berkshires up into the southern Greens, and also in parts of CMass
–Tonight’s heavier rains will quit by early Monday morning, by which time anywhere from .75″ to 2.5″ should have fallen, and with up to 3″ in some jackpot zones
–Lows tonight drop into the mid to upper 40s
–Once we dry slot Monday morning, sunshine will develop, and temps should soar well into the 60s
–However, by afternoon I believe we’ll pop up some clouds and scattered showers as the upper low begins its eastward crawl
–As it moves into our region, it brings a much colder pool of air aloft, and that helps pop showers each day
–In addition, that colder air and lowered freezing layer above our heads will again allow small hail or graupel to develop and fall to the ground in some heavier showers any day of next week
–Highs will be cooler after our Monday mild spike, only reaching the low to mid 50s each day, with lows either side of 40º
–By next weekend, though, there are signs that this upper low will vamoose to the east, and start to allow some weak high pressure to move in and foster more sunshine and milder temps
I hope things swing your way today, and I will update before dinner time on our expected rainy night.
Have a great day!
BE KIND
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
