DHTWN REMINDER: Can you swallow food no problem? Do you still have some or all of your human senses intact still? Have you laughed in the past week? Do you have food in your pantry or fridge? If so, these are things worthy of your gratitude. Life could always be worse than it is, so it can be useful to foster thankfulness for whatever it is that you have, now.

MORNING DISCUSSION
Good morning folks, we’re starting off the day with temps in the 40s, with some 30s in the high terrain west and northwest. It’s drier the further north you go, and we’ll see some showers move through the region mainly south of the Rt. 2 corridor, possibly missing the northern Berkshires and much of Franklin County and northern CMass altogether.

After this last batch of showers associated with our old-and-in-the-way upper low moves east and out of the region, high pressure will begin to exert more of an influence on our weather, albeit for a short time.

This will allow for partial sunshine to develop across the region this afternoon, though we can’t rule out a shower or two, and as is the case next week, and as was the case earlier this week, some small hail or graupel could accompany any heavier showers.

Highs today will reach the 55-60º range for the most part, and winds will be light, variable, and even calm at times. Lows tonight will drop into the 35-40º range under partly cloudy skies.

For Friday, high pressure floats into the region, and helps to develop a very nice, mild, and partly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 60s, and we can’t even rule out a few 67º or 68º readings in the Springfield-Hartford stretch. Lows will drop into the low to mid 40s as clouds increase.

By Saturday morning, we’ve got a warm front lifting northeast into our region, which will thicken up the cloud deck and bring first showers here sometime by mid to later morning.

Thereafter, we’re looking at a rainy Saturday afternoon and evening with periods of showers through that time, some may be on the heavier side with highs in the low to mid 50s.

In addition, winds should kick up out of the southeast as well, gusting over 25mph at times. Lows will bottom out into the low 40s as showers break up into an isolated to scattered pattern late.

For Sunday, we may see a break or a lull, or perhaps even just less numerous showers for a time, but by afternoon or evening, heavier rains will resume as an even stronger low level jet works into the region pumping in southerly moisture.

Because of this, it will be milder on Sunday with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s, with rain heavy at times overnight with lows in the 40s.

Rain should wind down sometime on Monday after our coastal wave works through the region, leading to a mostly cloudy afternoon with highs either side of 60º.

The Tuesday through Thursday period at the moment looks to be dominated by another Dopey Upper Low (which happens to be the title of my memoir, coming out in 2029, available only in my mind).

This means more periods of afternoon showers with potential for small hail or graupel, or a few rumbles of thunder, interspersed with either cloudy or partly sunny periods with highs in the 50s for the most part.

Once again, a Winter type northeast U.S. pattern sets up in Spring!

May Life swing your way today. Take care, Dave.

BE KIND
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
