Western Mass Regional Weather for April 2, 2023

Showery Wed/Thurs

Showery Wed/Thurs

Good morning everybody, thanks very much for all of the reports, pics and videos yesterday of not our first thunderstorms of 2023, but the first SPRING thunderstorms, as a couple of them flaredup and dropped some larger hail into Southampton/Easthampton and other spots, with a few isolated strong wind gusts, but nothing widespread, so that was good news.

I love thunderstorms, don’t get me wrong, but am no lover of wind destruction.

We’ve already had some blustery conoditions overnight with gusts up to 40mph in parts of our region, and after a cold night tonight we’ll see a book-ended week of nice weather days with a cloudy and showery conditions in the middle, but before we jump into the weather discussion / details below, let’s check a note from our new weekend sponsor, #RedFireFarm located in Granby, MA.

DAVE’S PATENTED BRAND-SPANKING NEW 2023 DOUBLE–DASH DELIVERY SYSTEM DEPLOYS BELOW:
–Early morning low clouds will eventually break up into a mostly sunny day
–Blustery conditions will continue with northwest winds gusting 25-40mph, and slackening by evening
–Highs will only reach the upper 30s to mid 40s, meaning they won’t be budging much from current levels
–Winds grow calmer tonight, and if radiational cooling maximizes which it should, temps bottom out in the upper teens to mid 20s
–For Monday, high pressure induces southerly flow, and winds should back around to the south and southwest, gusting up to 30mph at times
–Highs will reach the mid 50s, and we should see partly sunny skies in general, with more sunshine earlier in the day
–A frontal boundary will descend from north to south Monday night and sort of stall out or meander around the MA/VT-NY state line
–This will push clouds into the region, and bring some scattered rain showers as well Monday night, with lows in the low to mid 40s
–Tuesday looks mostly cloudy due to the drunken and disorderly influence of this aimless front with no goals in life
–Expect mostly cloudy skies with a few scattered showers at times
–Highs should reach the upper 50s to low 60s south of the front, but we could see cooler temps in northern MA, SVT and SWNH, will have to update as frontal location will influence temps
–Lows in the 40s Tuesday night with some isolated showers and mostly cloudy skies
–Wednesday into Thursday is when things begin moving again
–On Wednesday another wave is expected to move along the front and bring more showers to the region with highs in the 50s
–At the same time, this should cause the front to re-energize as a warm front and lift to our northeast Wednesday night into Thursday, putting us squarely in a warm sector
–These means temps only sit down to either side of 50º Wednesday night with more showers, which should continue into Thursday with temps well into the 60s for highs for a day
–A cold front moves through Thursday night with showers and maybe a thunderstorm
–Then we dry out for Friday, and I must say, for now, Easter weekend is looking lovely with fair weather and highs in the upper 40s and 50s, but I will keep you updated as we get closer on all of this.

Have a great day!

BE KIND
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
