Once we get through that blustery and chilly Thursday and Thursday night, The Mildening should be underway with a spring rainfall first part of the weekend, and deeper transition into a Spring pattern, but before we jump into the details let’s first a check a note from our Sponsor, Tandem Bagel Company:

As for this morning, our periods of rain and snow overnight has largely diminished and tracked east, but we’ll have isolated to scattered showers of rain or possibly snow this morning, especially east of the I-91 corridor.
Some showers may linger into early afternoon, and as it turns out, we had a pretty good drink of rain overnight (totals attached in a chart to this post).
Patchy drizzle and fog is expected in spots earlier today, and should then diminish toward mid-day with highs reaching into the 40s (lower north and west in the Berkshires and SVT, upper south and east in northern CT and southern CMass).
By later afternoon some sunny breaks should emerge, especially west of the I-91 corridor as drier air moves in while a mid-level wave ships east and out of here.
Skies should become partly cloudy tonight with lows in the mid to upper 20s and a light northwest wind.
For Wednesday, the pick of the week arrives!
High pressure builds into the region with sunny skies, light wind, and highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, a gorgeous day expected!
At night, clouds will build late as a sharp cold front swings into the region from the northwest, arriving sometime around midnight or the early pre-dawn hours.
Depending on when it arrives, a period of rain or snow will swing through and a squall is possible in the Berkshires, western hilltowns and southern VT which could produce fresh coatings of snow.
Depending on the timing of this, given that lows will drop into the low to mid 20s, roads may become slick for some high terrain areas with a brief quick freeze, though it’s a low chance given that northwest winds will be pouring in behind the frontal passage, and gusting 25-40mph by Thursday morning.
Highs on Thursday will only rise into the 30s for most of us with those kinds of gusts, it will feel like the 20s at times, so Thursday is truly a taste of late winter, so bundle up. At least it will be sunny… lows will drop again into the low to mid 20s.
Then The Mildening commences.
On Friday, a large storm system will be tracking northeast toward the Great Lakes and a large high pressure system will be exiting east off of the eastern seaboard.
This will establish broad southwesterly flow across the eastern third of the country and into New England.
Temps will rise into the 40s for highs, and after a partly sunny start, clouds will build into the afternoon. Lows will drop into the upper 30s producing a raw and rainy night.
Friday night into Saturday night is looking quite rainy across the region at this point in time, but I will refine impacts as we get closer.
Saturday does look quite mild and breezy with highs in the low to mid 60s with showery periods throughout the day, and into the night.
Sunday is definitely the pick of the weekend and cooler with highs in the 40s behind a cold front, and breezy conditions, before we warm back up well into the 50s on Monday.
Have a great day!
BE KIND
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
