WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
Much of the drama of the past couple of days and the myriad weather changes have now passed us by. However, it’s very cold outside this morning (and will be tomorrow morning as well) with a breezy day with wind chills in the single digits at times followed by a sunny and cold Christmas Day with mostly dry and increasingly mild conditions throughout the upcoming week with no big storms, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our new local weekend sponsor, #CranberryHillHealingArts located in Amherst, MA.

***DHTWN DAILY WEATHER REPORT***
——————————————-
Good morning everybody, aside from a few flurries or a snow shower in the Berkshires or southern VT later today, and the potential for a few rain or snow showers by Tuesday north of the Rt. 2 corridor, we’ve got a long stretch of fair and mostly quiet weather head with increasing temps the whole way.
First, we start our increasing temperature trend from the rock bottom basement, a/k/a this morning with temps in the single digits below and above zero, and wind chills as low as 22º BELOW zero.
It truly will only get better from here. With such frigid temps, look out for black ice patches as the snow showers and squalls that worked through the region last evening and blanketed the ground for some, it’s still slippery out there where roads are untreated, so be alert.
For today, highs the coldest day settles in with highs only in the teens given fresh snow pack for many! Southwest winds will gust 20-30mph as we still have a remnant pressure gradient from our 966mb low over western Quebec coupled with a 1038mb high in the Deep South – that 72 millibar pressure difference is massive, but over a long distance, so winds won’t crank today.
Wind chills will still drop to the single digits below and above zero at times today under partly to mostly sunny skies.
For Christmas Eve/tonight, wind slackens a little more, with breezes of 10-20mph and lows in the single digits to low 10s.
Christmas Day/Sunday brings mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 20s and southwest breezes of 10-20mph, with lows in the single digits to low 10s.
Monday and Tuesday moderate up to highs in the mid 20s to low 30s with lows in the teens under partly to mostly sunny skies with the chance of a few snow showers in northern MA, SVT and SWNH.
Wednesday is our transition day with highs in the low to mid 30s as milder air surges into the region and causes us to rise well into the 40s by the late week period with fair weather expected and rain showers possible by New Year’s Weekend.
Have a great day, and I still have my 2023 WMass weather wall calendars at the link below… since I won’t be doing one next year, get ’em while you can!

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
