DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
We’ve got lots of 20s out there and some low 30s, all of which will precede a lovely Fall day.

Tomorrow, however, will be the pick of the week with milder temps and sun, followed by clouds Friday morning and rain and wind at night into Saturday with a colder, blustery Sunday expected with cooler temps into next week and another mid-week storm possible, but before we jump into the details, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in West Springfield, MA.

WEATHER REPORT
Good morning everybody, it’s a chilly one out the door this morning, but a lovely day lies ahead, so we have that going for us.

Since I’m on a double–dash roll, I’m going to sprinkle them liberally below, so as Julia Child used to say, bon appetit!

TROPOSPHERIC MENU
–High pressure slides into the region today, bringing light southerly wind, mostly sunny skies, and highs in the low to mid 50s
–Lows will drop into the low to mid 30s for most of us tonight under clear skies
–Thursday is the pick of the week as high pressure slides east of us, and strengthens southerly flow, causing temps to rise into the low to mid 60s under mostly sunny skies as said flow draws a comparatively smaller batch of tropical warmth up the coast, buoyed by Tropical Storm Nicole
–Lows Thursday night will be milder too, resting in the mid 40s as clouds increase overnight
–Friday should turn mostly cloudy to overcast quickly as the post-tropical remnants of Nicole is redirected northeast up the spine of the Appalachian Mountains
–This is happening because a surface cold front related to a positively-tilted upper level trough will sweep into the eastern U.S. and Great Lakes region, and will absorb and merge with Nicole’s remnants
–The remnant low will be directed northeast into northwestern New England and will spread rain and wind into the greater WMass region Friday night into Saturday early afternoon
–This storm will be moving quickly, and there is nothing to slow it down, so it’ll be a blast of weather and then cook on out of here
–Showers may start in northwest CT the Berkshires and central/southern Taconics by early to mid afternoon Friday, but late afternoon into the evening is when showers most expected to begin
–It will rain hard at times overnight, and with any tropical system tracking west of us, that puts us on the windier side, so I would think southerly gusts will blow 30-45mph at times, and so some isolated outages are possible
–We also have to watch for thunderstorms and any rotation in said storms… ponding on road ways will be possible
–Generally 1-2″ of rain is expected, some may get less than 1″,. some more than 2″
–Highs Friday will be in the mid to upper 60s with a tropical feel for obvious reasons, and lows will only sit down into the mid to upper 50s
–Highs Saturday will also reach the mid to upper 60s and rain should quit by early afternoon
–A strong cold front will swing through the region later Saturday, and drops temps back into the 30s for lows, some 20 degrees colder than the night prior
–Sunday looks blustery, and Sunday to Tuesday look chilly with highs only in the low to mid 40s with lows in the 20s
–We’ll also have to see if the lake effect snow machine kicks on for NY state to end the weekend, as occasionally snow and rain showers survive the trip into the Taconics, Greens and Berkshires/Litchfields
–By middle of next week we have another shot at some storminess, and with colder temps in place, if we get a night time arrival, we start looking for snow potential, but nothing is worth talking about at the moment

Have a great day, and I’d be so grateful if you picked up one or a few of my 2023 weather calendars before the sale ends a week from this Sunday, as I won’t be doing one next year.

It’s filled with locally-snapped beautiful photos, and you’ll learn a ton of cool weather stuff including local storm history (info at my website link above).

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
