Good morning everybody, after the chilliest morning since early to mid May of 2022 with some folks likely seeing frost, we’ll milden up into a sweet sunny Saturday with showers and possible t-storms by Sunday night into Monday as we warm a bit, followed by cooler and sunnier weather mid/late week with remnant tropical rains possible next weekend, but before we dive into all of the weather details below, let’s check a note from our local weekend sponsor, #YankeeMattressFactory, with their main headquarters in Agawam, MA along with stores located around the valley.

A NOTE FROM OUR WEEKEND SPONSOR:
DHTWN is sponsored by members, patrons, and Yankee Mattress Factory. Yankee Mattress is employee-owned, and mattresses are handmade locally in Agawam, MA. Several years ago I purchased a Yankee mattress and was very pleased with their quality and the buying experience, which was friendly and low pressure. Starting on September 1st and running through October 31st, Yankee Mattress will be partnering with the American Cancer Society to raise money to support breast cancer research and local services. A portion of each mattress sale will go towards their goal of donating $10,000 towards this cause. Visit the Yankee Mattress store closest to you in Agawam, Springfield, Northampton, or Greenfield, or click for more info: https://yankeemattressfactory.com/

***DHTWN DAILY WEATHER REPORT***
——————————————-
Good morning everybody, my gift to you today is this gorgeous, Autumnal Saturday, woo!
First… did you get any frost? Let me know below…
After wind gusts overnight of 20-35mph in parts of our region, with sunshine, slackening winds, highs in the low to mid 60s, you wouldn’t know that a hurricane producing the lowest pressure that Canada has ever recorded at 931mb (940mb previous record) passed just 400-500 miles east of us.
Fortunately for our region, we have pretty pedestrian weather for the next 7 days, so I’ll double–dash it out below, and highlight one or two potential wrinkles that may or may not come to pass.
–High pressure builds in today, so winds slacken, and sunny highs in the low to mid 60s rule our roost
–Wind continues light tonight with lows in the low to mid 40s under partly cloudy skies
–For Sunday, an upper low in the western Great Lakes will be trucking east and send forth its warm front at the surface toward New England
–We’ll have a partly sunny day on average, but clouds will not be shy about making their presence known
–Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s, and a few isolated showers are possible at any time
–As we approach the later afternoon and evening, showers should become a bit more evident, and we could see some thunderstorms at night
–Whenever you have a warm front, you have to watch for low level spin in the atmosphere, which rarely produces rotating t-storms, and those need to be watched, but severe weather potential is almost non-existent tomorrow night
–Lows will drop into the low to mid 50s
–For Monday, we’ll be in between frontal boundaries, with some scattered showers at times, but it doesn’t look like a very wet day
–Highs will reach the mid 60s to low 70s, lows in the upper 40s as we dry out
–Tuesday could feature a spot shower with highs in the 60s with lows in the 40s
–The Wednesday through Friday period looks generally fair with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s
–It is by next weekend that we have to watch what is likely to become major Hurricane Ian before running into the western FL coastline
–Its remnants may track into New England and produce some much needed rainfall, so I’ll be updating you on that
–After that, the early to mid week period as Ian’s remnants are swept eastward may see the arrival of a deeper shot of cold air as we enter October which could place us in the 50s for highs and 30s for lows for days in a row, so stay tuned!
Have a great day!

AND REMEMBER…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
