WEATHER REPORT
Good morning everybody, currently we have clouds spreading overhead from west to east as a larger, self-contained cluster of showers and thunderstorms (a/k/a a Mesoscale Convective Complex or Mesoscale Convective System) dives east-southeast through southeast NY, dotting our western zones with a few morning showers.
These showers have been weakening on approach, but a rumble can’t be ruled out in southern Litchfield County CT. Otherwise, we should be dealing with a mostly cloudy day with highs in the 70s with southerly wind gusts reaching speeds of 20-30mph by this afternoon.
By tonight, significantly more humid air will be approaching the region, and this will help keep our temps in the 60s for overnight lows, but will also help develop more showers and thunderstorms, likely arriving before midnight and lasting into the pre-dawn hours.
Coverage will be scattered, and patchy fog will be possible late as the dew point temps rise up to meet falling air temps resulting in some surface saturation.
For Friday, we should get a break in the action during the morning and depending on how much sunshine develops ahead of an incoming cold front, this will help determine coverage and intensity of a squall line of showers and thunderstorms that look to push through the region during the early to mid afternoon timeframe.
Some storms may be strong to marginally severe, with isolated damaging wind possible, and small hail.
Highs will be quite warm, peaking out in the low to mid 80s, and it will be quite humid. Heat indices may push 90º in spots.
After our cold frontal passage, we will witness a major push of anomalously cold air at the mid-levels as it overspreads our region aloft, with temps a mile up below freezing!!
After lows in the low to mid 50s with clearing skies Friday night, we will not climb that much in terms of highs for Saturday! Low to mid 60s should do it, with some upper 50s possible in southern VT and northwest MA!
There will be an autumnal essence to the air on Saturday, so if you have outdoor plans, have your layers ready, as Saturday night lows will crash into the mid to upper 40s, just shy of the Summer Solstice, which is quite noteworthy. We might even see some low 40s in southern VT!
Ok! That’s enough exclamation points Dave! We get that you like cool weather, and that you’re a nutcake about it!
Moving on, despite an isolated shower or weak thunderstorm Saturday due to the proximity of an upper low, we’re moving into what appears to be a 4-or-5-day stretch of fair, dry weather with highs slowly increasing to the low 80s by the middle of next week.
Sunday will be cool, as well, with highs in the mid to upper 60s and lows near 50º.
Thereafter, Monday through Wednesday will feature highs well into the 70s Monday, and increasing into the low 80s by the middle of next week when our next shower chance will be possible.
That’s all for now, peeps! Have a great day, and remember…
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
