Good morning everybody, we received some heavy rainfall overnight, and there are still a few showers over SVT, but the trend will be for clouds to clear later this morning with sun and a few showers this afternoon, possible isolated thunderstorms with small hail Saturday, colder with some snow showers Sunday, and a blustery kick-off to next week, but before we dive into all of those weather details below, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with a new location in West Springfield, MA.

Good morning everybody, we ended up with a third to three-quarters of an inch over the past 24 hours based on the National Weather Service, but I know for a fact that there were jackpot amounts over an inch in spots, so if you have a rain gauge, please post what you saw at your home if you can.

We’ll start off today with clouds, and a few showers over southern VT, but those will be lifting out and after a period of morning cloudiness, we should get some drier air in here and develop mostly sunny skies for a time by later morning, but should also see fair weather clouds develop later in the afternoon, with a few isolated showers possible.

Highs today will range from the upper 40s in southern VT to the low 60s in the southern Pioneer Valley and north-central into northeast CT, but most of us will be in the 50s in the greater WMass region with a light west wind.

For tonight, any isolated showers that popped in the afternoon will flare down, and we’ll end up in the low 30s to low 40s from north to south under partly cloudy skies.

For Saturday, we’ve got the influence of that upper level system moving slowly east into the region.

However, we’ll start off with a partly sunny sky, but very cold air will be moving into the mid to upper levels, which will steepen the thermal lapse rate and cause rising air and clouds to develop, along with scattered afternoon showers and a few thunderstorms as well, some of which may drop some small hail or graupel.

Highs will only be in the mid 40s to mid 50s, but it’s likely to have a summery look when you look up tomorrow with dark cloud bellies at times, and a mixed sky of sun and clouds.

We could see a mix with snow late in the day over the Berkshires, western hilltowns, southern VT, Taconics and Litchfields as a cold front approaches and temps cool down. Lows will drop into the upper 20s to mid 30s overnight behind the front with a few mixed showers possible during the first half of the night.

Sunday should feature more sunshine than Saturday, but there will still be some clouds building by afternoon as a second and sharper cold front works into the region with more potential for high terrain snow showers.

Highs will only reach the upper 30s to mid 40s, and winds will pick up out of the northwest Sunday night into Monday, as cold air invades the region and gives us a taste of the season we just left behind.

Lows will drop into the mid teens to low 20s with northwest winds gusting 20-30mph overnight, with a few Berkshire snow showers possible – quite wintry!

Monday is the coldest day over the next 7, with highs only reaching the mid 20s to low 30s!

Unseasonable, for sure.

Blustery conditions will continue with northwest winds gusting into Monday night as temps drop into the teens, with wind chills possibly dropping into the single digits late at night!

Tuesday is cold, but becoming more seasonable with highs 35-40º (though still below average) and then we moderate into mid week with highs in the 40s Wednesday and 50s Thursday with a period of rain starting as ice Wednesday night that doesn’t look too major, but I will keep you updated as we get closer.

Have a great day, and please remember that when 4% of my readers support my work with even $5 or 10/year, $2/month (or more if you’re able) I can remain in your service (we’re about 75% of the way to that goal).

Thank you!
