LATE-WINTER COLD SHOTS TUSTLE WITH EARLY-SPRING MILD SURGES THROUGH THE NEXT WEEK AS MARCH COMES IN LIKE A LAMB WITH LITTLE WEATHER TO SPEAK OF… AN ARCTIC FRONT MOVES THROUGH TOMORROW LATE P.M. WITH SOME SNOW SHOWERS/SQUALLS POSSIBLE… VERY COLD MONDAY MORNING WITH WIND CHILLS BELOW ZERO… OTHERWISE SEASONALLY COLD FROM TUESDAY ONWARD WITH A COUPLE OF CLIPPER CHANCES WITH SNOW SHOWERS LATE TUES AND EARLY THURS… NO BIG STORMS IN SIGHT, WITH POTENTIAL MILDENING BY NEXT WEEKEND… 8:10am Sat
Good morning everybody, well I don’t know about you, but that half foot was super satisfying for me being a valley dweller living in the Western Mass Snow Lovers’ Triangle of Disappoinment (you can use WMSLTOD as a memorable acronym, lol).
Five inches of snow always was the demarkation for me since I was a kid as to what a “good” snowfall amounted to, so even if this is it for the year, I’ve had my brief burst of snow happiness…. snowppiness?
Yikes, I think we might have to retire that new word immediately.
As for our weather, I am going to bust a move on my bulletization activities, specifically employing the double-dash methodology of list composition and presentation. It’s VERY scientific.
SYNOPSIS
–We’re starting off quite cold today with temps in the single digits and teens
–Luckily winds tamped down overnight, and so we’ll have a light-wind day with highs in the mid 20s to low 30s under mostly sunny skies
–An uneventful night will follow with high pressure building south of us, as temps bottom out into the low to mid teens under partly cloudy skies
–We’ll be milder tomorrow, with sunny skies early and highs rising into the mid 30s to low 40s with southwest winds picking up and gusting 25-35mph by afternoon
–At the same time, clouds will be increasing from the north and northwest as another Arctic cold front will be tracking toward the WMass region
–A broken line of snow showers and an isolated squall or two will be accompanying this front, and should push into the southern VT and southwest NH areas by late afternoon, progressing through the entire WMass region through early evening
–This line is expected to weaken a bit as it translates south and east, so best chance for a quick dusting is north of Rt. 2
–After this line comes through, winds will veer out of the northwest and gust 25-40mph overnight into early Monday morning
–Temps will tank into the mid to upper single digits and wind chills will drop below zero early Monday morning, so bundle up as you head out to start the new week!
–It’ll be dry overnight into Monday, and winds will slacken by afternoon with highs in the upper teens to mid 20s under sunny skies
–One more wicked cold night with lows in the singles Monday night, and then we begin to moderate overall through the week and into next weekend
–The Tuesday through Friday stretch looks like highs will be in the 30s with lows in the teens to low 20s and partly sunny skies on average with a couple of weak Clipper systems (moisture-starved Canadian low pressure systems) that may dot the landscape with some snow showers
