Good morning, folks, and baby it’s cold outside! With all the dynamic weather we experience here in southwestern New England, it really is nice to get a stretch of fair weather, and we are most certainly smack dab in the middle of such a stretch, but before we jump into the upcoming details below, please check out a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, who just opened a new location in West Springfield, MA.

A NOTE FROM OUR SPONSOR:

DISCUSSION:
Good morning everybody, first of all, did anyone see Aurora Borealis overnight? I had a bunch of personal stuff to attend to and it was off of my radar, which demands a fix, as I want to be able to let you know of incoming space weather events.

Anyway, if you have any pics, please post below!

Also, it’s freakin’ cold outside! Well, it’s not THAT horrible, but we’ve had a very mild start to Fall, so we’re feeling it now. Temps are in the 20s to low 30s mainly, and I’m sure there will be lots of frost reports coming in, as we had a good freeze overnight and as the dawn comes to pass.

For today, it’s going to be cold, unseasonably so. Highs may not even reach 40º in some of the southern VT highlands and Monadnock Region, otherwise expect low to upper 40s for highs across the greater WMass region from northwest to southeast (northwest MA down to the Hartford metro / lower CT River Valley).

Expect plenty of sunshine, though the further south you go, some clouds will build in later, due to a coastal storm passing south of us off of the Mid-Atlantic coastline. This storm will not bother us due to a giant dome of high pressure blocking it southeast like a 300 pound Tackle in the NFL.

For tonight, we’ll be passing through the Taurid meteor stream within our Heliosphere (our star’s atmosphere), and I believe you can see up to 10 meteors per hour. Some clouds will the further south you go may obscure that view-ability.

Still, take a look once it’s dark, and I hope you see some!

Lows will be chilly, dropping into the mid to upper 20s once again with more frosts/freezes.

For Friday and Saturday, expect more sunshine with sprawling high pressure for hundreds and hundreds of miles in every direction as it bulges its ridge space-ward, like a giant fair weather protection umbrella, producing highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s.

On Sunday, a coastal storm likes stays well south thanks to our big, protective high once again, and temps may come up a bit, with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s under sunny skies, with lows near freezing.

By Monday through Wednesday, it looks like the center of high pressure will be passing south of us, putting us into a more westerly to southwesterly flow, which will help temps come up, thanks also to a mid-level ridge that will sit on top of the surface high pressure.

The subsidence, or sinking air, combined with southwesterly flow should at least get us up to average temps with highs in the low to mid 50s and lows in the 30s, above freezing.

A few showers are possible by middle of next week, but more likely we have to wait until the end of next week into the weekend for our next storm chance.

I hope you have a great day, and remember that 2 weeks from Sunday my 2022 Weather Calendar *ends* so that I can get them to you on time for the holidays and new year, so click below for details – no one can force you to buy, you have the power to resist (but I hope you’ll succumb) :-)
