Good morning everybody, we got a little soaker finale during the pre-dawn hours there (check out the attached infrared satellite shot of our low lifting north and away, impressive!).

I have to imagine that some folks ended up with over 2″ of rain, even though I’ve been mostly seeing totals in the 1-2″ range across the region.

Today will be one of improvements. We still have the last of the rain lifting north through southern VT and southwest NH, and there will be plenty of clouds around early with a few scattered showers here and there, but over time, we should develop a partly sunny day, at least across the region east of the western hilltowns (valley and points south and east).

Clouds may hang a bit more into the western hilltowns, Berkshires, and southern Greens, but we shall see.

It’ll be mild with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s, and some of us may even hit the mid 60s briefly!

Despite a spot shower possible, the All Hallow’s Eve activities should be mostly dry, if not completely so. Temps will sit down into the 50s, and then later tonight, lows will drop into the low to mid 40s.

The rest of the week looks fairly pedestrian in terms of storms, though we have to watch by Friday for a potential coastal storm (see attached chart), the track of which still needs to be resolved, so stay tuned on that score.

Otherwise, we’ll have a couple of cold frontal passage along with a series of weak disturbances diving south and east around the western side of an upper level trough that will be located over southeast Canada and the northeast U.S.

This could bring a couple of rounds of scattered upslope showers Tuesday night and again on Wednesday night which may send the first snowflakes flying in northwest MA and southern VT and the Taconics.

Temps are most certainly headed DOWN this week.

Highs Monday and Tuesday are in the low to mid 50s with lows in the 30s, but by Wednesday through Friday highs should only reach the 45-50º range, with lows in the 20s, so hard freezes are a comin’ my friends.

Have a great day, and please check out my 2022 Weather Wall Calendar, it’s a great way to feel connected to our community, learn about our weather, and contemplate the beauty of the region with local fan photos (click below for info, payment options, etc.)
