Western Mass Weather for October 14, 2021

7:05AM-THURS: OK FOLKS, PLEASE STOP PRAYING FOR FOG BEFORE BED EVERY NIGHT ALREADY, BECAUSE IT’S WORKING! MORE PATCHY DENSE FOG THIS MORNING, AND AGAIN TOMORROW MORNING… MORE CLOUDS START TO MIX IN LATE WEEK, A FEW SPRINKLES POSSIBLE THIS EVENING AND TOMORROW MORNING… A BALMY BREEZY SATURDAY ENDS WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE EVENING WITH A COOLER, BLUSTERY SUNDAY INTO MONDAY WITH FIRST FROST POSSIBLE FOR A SELECT FEW MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING… 50S AND 60S NEXT WEEK FOR HIGHS, FAIR WEATHER EXPECTED…

Good morning everybody, your love for fog has become troublesome now that your manifestation powers have been made clear – you love fog, and you’ll stop at nothing to get more of it!

I give up *shakes fist at the ground clouds*… have some more fog this morning AND tomorrow morning while you’re at it. It’s #FogWeek2021 and the people of the WMass region will have their fog and eat it too!

Actually there’s more than fog in the forecast, including showers and thunderstorms for Saturday evening, a few of which may be strong, and a cool down with blustery conditions Sunday and a possible frost Monday night.

We’ll jump into all of our salient weather details below, but first let’s get a word from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo

SUMMARY:
–Even after the fog lifts, more clouds will be around today than previous days
–We’ll see some sunny patches, but mostly over the valleys, with higher terrain especially west of the CT River with more clouds than sun today
–Highs will reach the low to mid 70s, and we could see a few sprinkles this evening, overnight and into Friday morning, with more patchy fog expected. Lows’ll dip into the low/mid 50s
–For Friday, more partly sunny skies are expected with highs again in the low to mid 70s, and lows in the upper 50s to near 60º as a warm frontal passage pushes a few showers through the region
–It’s looking rather balmy on Saturday, as humidity increases, with dewpoints climbing into the low to mid 60s for mid-October, which definitely represents an anomalous pattern
–Southwest winds gusts will blow 20-30mph at times, though likely closer to 20mph, and highs will climb into the low to mid 70s for one more day before Autumn returns
–Clouds will build during the day Saturday, and a cold front will slice through the region late in the afternoon or early evening
–The storm that this front is attached to will be well-wound up, and well west of us, meaning the front won’t be slashing through west to east, but more south-southwest to north-northeast
–With not a ton of instability in place, the squall line of showers and thunderstorms should be fairly narrow, but regardless, expect inclement weather moving through the region Saturday evening
–Lows will plummet into the 45-50º range
–Behind this frontal passage, blustery conditions will develop with the first Lake Effect pattern setting up this year!
–We won’t see any snow showers in the WMass region, but on Sunday and Monday afternoons, we should see some scattered lake effect rain showers in the Taconics, Berkshires, SVT and Litchfields, with a few spilling into the western hilltowns
–Highs Sunday will only reach the upper 50s to low 60s and on Monday we should be squarely in the 50s region-wide!
–Winds will be a bit gusty, reaching speeds of 20-30mph on Saturday, and slackening to about 20mph on Monday
–Skies will be increasingly sunnier from Sunday to Monday, and lows will dip into the low to mid 40s Sunday night, but then mid to upper 30s Monday night when a frost is possible in a few spots
–We moderate a tad Tuesday onward, but it looks generally fair with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s for now

I hope things go your way today, and that you have a great day!
