SYNOPSIS
–Mostly cloudy day ahead with a few sunny peeks possible
–Highs reach the upper 70s to mid 80s, and it will be increasingly humid, with dewpoints cresting the 70º mark by afternoon
–This is in response to an incoming cold front, with showers already over western NY state
–By as early as noon or so, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be pushing into eastern NY
–As the afternoon wears on, these showers/storms will push east into and through northwest CT, the Berkshires, and southwest VT and then points east thereafter
–Some storms may become strong to severe, with isolated damaging wind gusts possible, and torrential rain and frequent lightning. Hail is a secondary threat.
–All activity exits by about 8pm-ish, and our lows tonight drop into the low 60s after the cold front passes, with patchy fog possible
–Lowered humidity moves into the region for what looks like a pleasant Tuesday under party sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s to low 80s
–It will still be a bit muggy, but more comfortable than today
–Lows Tuesday night will drop into the upper 50s to low 60s
–For Wednesday, the remnants of Ida will be making an east-northeasterly beeline toward the Mid-Atlantic coastline
–Clouds will increase, and humidity will come up a bit, with highs only in the upper 60s to mid 70s, with scattered showers possible by afternoon
–Wednesday night into Thursday afternoon looks like a cold-season, stratiform rainstorm will form as Ida at that point will be a cold-core, fully extratropical low pressure center
–This system will have more winter-storm characteristics with its setup, actually, and as they do, serve as an early harbinger of the cold season to arrive over the next several months
–We know that there will be a heavy stripe of rainfall on the order of 2-5″, but the closer we get to this system’s impact, the more it looks like the rain will fall more evenly, so HOPEFULLY that would help lessen the flash flood potential
–The heaviest rain at the moment looks like it move through along and south of the Pike in MA, CT and RI, but that could change to stay tuned
–We have to watch for some wind gusts in the 25-45mph range as well, along with an isolated tornado as this will be the remnants of a tropical system, which always has some helicity, or low level spin associated with it
–Highs Wednesday will be in the upper 60s to mid 70s, with lows in the mid to upper 50s, and highs on Thursday in the mid 60s to low 70s, all from high terrain to low
–Rain exits Thursday night, with lows in the low to mid 50s as a taste of Autumn is pulled in behind Ida’s exit
–Friday through the weekend looks truly Autumnal for the Labor Day Weekend with highs in the low to mid 70s and lows in the low to mid 50s under partly sunny skies with low, comfortable humidity levels

Have a great day and stay tuned for updates this afternoon on incoming storms, and over the coming days re: Thursday’s heavy rainstorm!
