RAIN ENDS WELL BEFORE MIDNIGHT, ALREADY OVER MOSTLY IN THE BERSHIRES AND WESTERN 2/3RDS OF SVT… THE FRESHENING ARRIVES LATE TONIGHT AND THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY… THEN MUGGIFICATION ACTIVITIES COMBINED WITH THE HOTTENING COMMENCES BY THE WEEKEND, AND LASTS ALL NEXT WEEK… 2ND HEAT WAVE OF THE 2021 WARM SEASON ON THE WAY, IT APPEARS… 6:20PM TUES…
Good evening everybody, we’ve had a nice little drink today with many folks getting between .15-.5″ of rainfall, some a little less than that, but that’s the average range.
It’s been a cool, rainy day, and now we’ve got some cool nights coming up interspersed with a pair of sunny, dry, freshy fresh starshine periods, otherwise known as “days”.
For tonight, rain will quit by 9 or 10pm in CMass and northeast CT where it will hang on longest. It’s already pretty much over in the Berkshires and Litchfields, but a few leftover showers are possible before midnight.
Skies should start clearing late, and temps will plummet well down into the 40s with patchy fog by sunrise.
Wednesday through Friday morning is super crisp, and delightfully pleasant. It will probably be too cool for the summah lovahs, but I am not cut from your fabric, and you will have your day in the soupy sun very soon indeed!
Tomorrow we’ll be sunny, with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s with light northwest flow, and lows again in the mid to upper 40s under clear skies, perfect for stargazing.
Thursday is also sunny, a bit warmer, with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s, and lows in the 50s.
Friday warms further, and humidity starts to slowly creep, though it will still be a killer summer day, with highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s and lows near 60º.
Humidity arrives more deeply Friday night, and then this weekend we’re heading back into summer.
Saturday should remain firmly in the low to mid 80s but we’re going to the mid 80s to low 90s from high terrain to low starting Sunday and lasting into mid week anyway.
Someone will see three consecutive low 90s days for an official heat wave, and we’ll have some pop-up afternoon showers and thunderstorms each day.
The main threat with any storms that do form will be heavy rainfall, as I am not seeing much chance for severe weather at this time (large hail or strong winds 58mph or higher).
Anyway, that’s the news from yours truly, I hope this combined with incoming sunshine will help your gardens to grow up big and strong!
G’night…

ONE MORE MUGGY/RAINY TUESDAY ON TAP BEFORE WE TASTE SOME EARLY AUTUMN AIR WEDNESDAY INTO FRIDAY MORNING… THEREAFTER, A LONGER-STANDING BOUT OF HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WITH AFTERNOON SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARRIVES THIS WEEKEND, AND INTO NEXT WEEK AS A BERMUDA HIGH RESURGES OVER THE WESTERN ATLANTIC, REMINDING US THAT SUMMAH HAS ARRIVED… 6:40AM TUES…
Good morning folks, thanks for the reports yesterday, I hope you got a drink of rain where you lived overnight, if that’s what you were hoping for, as I know a number of us did.
There’s a bit of patchy fog around, notably near Westfield but this should lift soon. What notably remains is the humidity, as dewpoints continue to range in the 65-70º area.
We have a cold front currently draped southwestward through NY state, and copious cloudiness (perhaps that’ll be my spoken word stage name some day).
With an upper level trough swinging northeast into southeast Canada, this wall of clouds and showers will push through our region today. The upper level jet will help produce prodigious lift along with the cold front, and so we can expect a period of showers and downpours, with perhaps a few rumbles of thunder mixed in beginning around late morning over the Berkshires, and tracking east through the day.
To be sure, a few light isolated showers are possible at any point this morning, but the main rain shield moves through between say 11am to 9pm, maybe lasting towards midnight in CMass and northeast CT.
Highs today will be cool under mostly cloudy skies, ranging from the upper 60s to mid 70s in most spots.
After our cold front passes through the region, The Whooshening will be upon us with fresh, very cool, and dry Canadian air rushing in on northwesterly breezes, which wil produce lows tonight down into the 45-50º range as we clear out, so bundle for Fall tomorrow morning!
Wednesday and Thursday will the last pair of refreshingly crisp and dry days we’ll experience for a while, I believe, as Summer surges more deeply into the region by the weekend into next week.
If you’re an astronomical observer, Wednesday night and Thursday night are going to be a pair of winners for you!
Highs Wednesday will reach the low to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies with light northwest flow, and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
Highs Thursday will reach the mid 70s to low 80s under mostly sunny skies with light northwest flow, and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
By Friday we will start to see humidity creep back into the region, as high pressure begins to strengthen to the south and southeast of New England over the western Atlantic Ocean.
It should still be a dry day with mostly sunny skies, but it will be warming into the upper 70s to mid 80s. Lows will only drop to near 60º as clouds start to mix into our skies.
Once the weekend arrives, we enter a new summer pattern as Canadian coolness is kicked to the northerly curb by a big ol’ Bermuda high.
High temps will warm well into the 80s each day, with lows only in the mid to upper 60s with humid conditions developing.
Each day’s surface heating will help to spawn scattered afternoon showers and/or thunderstorms.
This pattern looks to continue WELL into next week, so expect a series of 85-90º humid days with afternoon booms and rains here and there.
Have a great day and pack the rain gear!
