Good morning everybody, after Thursday and Friday’s 2-6″ of fluffy snow, we get to take in a gorgeous winter scene that only comes after a fresh snowfall.

In addition, we are going to get milder next week, so we will start to get some snow melt by end of next week, in combination with the longer daylight and higher sun angle as we head towards March… the month in which Spring begins!

For the rest of this report, I am going to hop into double-dash mode and let the short horizontal lines do the talking:

SUMMARY
–After some morning upslope snow showers or flurries in the Berkshires, Taconics, Litchfields and southern Greens, we move to a partly sunny day in the high terrain west of the CT River, and mostly sunny in the valley points south and east
–Highs will reach the mid 20s to low 30s from high terrain to low
–Lows tonight will be cold, in the low to mid teens under partly cloudy skies
–For Sunday we’ll enjoy the pick of the weekend, with plenty of sunshine as high pressure builds into the region, destined to pass to our south and off the coast Sunday night
–Highs on Sunday will reach the upper 20s to low 30s with lows in the mid teens under clearer skies early, and cloudier skies late at night
–For Monday, our last chance at accumulating snow for the rest of the month the way it looks now, as our pattern shifts up
–A weaker system will be tracking through and to the east of the Great Lakes, heading for New England on Monday morning, when clouds will increase over the WMass region
–While a secondary low may form south of New England, this parent system will run right through us and start off as snow by early afternoon
–The way it looks now, the Berkshires, Taconics, western hilltowns, SVT, the Monadnock Region, the northern Litchfields… all of these areas could stay all snow and pick up 1-3″ through Monday evening
–The valley of WMass east into CMass could see a coating to 1″ before mixing with or turning to rain, with plain most likely south of the Pike into Monday night
–Highs on Monday will reach the low to mid 30s with lows in the 20s
–Then for Tuesday through Thursday, varying sky cover but dry conditions should prevail, and highs will reach the mid to upper 30s in the high terrain, with low 40s in the valleys as The Mildening(TM) commences!
