My name is Dave Hayes, and as a western Massachusetts focused interactive community weather reporter, writer and blogger here on my website and on my Facebook page and Twitter feed, I curate and report on the weather of the greater western Massachusetts region (Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden counties and adjacent areas), and all of Southern New England when possible.

I have been living in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts for over 35 years, and I cull weather information from several non-local sources, the main one being NOAA and the National Weather Service, for which I am an official Severe Weather Spotter.

I have had a passion for the weather since I was 12 years old growing up in Eastern Mass, when I first saw Bob Copeland on WCVB Channel 5 reporting at noon on severe thunderstorms in the area. Soon enough, all the bright colors on the radar corresponded to some big thunderstorms that moved overhead, and I was hooked.

In addition to being a self-proclaimed weather nut, I am an active/gigging musician in the area, having played shows with Heather Maloney, Superkart, Rick Murnane, and most recently with Colorway and The Time Machine, featuring Lord Russ.
