Western Mass Weather for December 11, 2020

[POTENTIAL FOR FREEZING FOG/DRIZZLE FOR PRE-DAWN HOURS OF SATURDAY MORNING… ALSO BRIEF ONSET OF FREEZING RAIN CAN’T BE RULED OUT NORTH OF RT. 2 CORRIDOR IN MA, VT AND NH TOMORROW EVENING, OTHERWISE RAIN MOVES IN MID/LATE AFTERNOON AND INTO SATURDAY NIGHT… FEW SHOWERS SUNDAY MORNING WITH DRYING AS A COLD FRONT SWINGS THROUGH… HAVE TO WATCH MONDAY FOR POSSIBLE GRAZING BY NORTHERN EXTENT OF A COASTAL LOW… WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY STILL A CONCERN FOR A SUBSTANTIAL SNOWSTORM WITH COLD AIR IN PLACE AHEAD OF IT… 9:45AM FRIDAY]

Good morning everybody, I’m going to employ double-dashes in an attempt to tamp down my propensity for verbosity:

SUMMARY
–Mostly sunny early, with high clouds building in as the day wears on, highs will reach the mid to upper 40s, light southwest wind
–For tonight, moisture will be advecting into the region, and temps should bottom our near freezing
–This will cause patchy areas of fog to form, and some of the fog could be freezing on surfaces late tonight, so watch out for black ice patches if you’re out and about
–Any fog dissipates Saturday morning, but we’re left with a mostly cloudy day as a storm begins to press its warm front toward a region, as the low center tracks northeast through the eastern Great Lakes
–Highs will be in the low to mid 40s, and possibly only upper 30s in the high terrain of northern MA, and southern VT/NH
–Showers will arrive by mid to late afternoon, and could be come heavy at times in the evening, with about a quarter to half inch of rain expected by Sunday morning
–There is a low chance of brief onset of freezing rain north of the Rt. 2 corridor tomorrow evening, so watch for that
–Lows tomorrow night will be in the mid to upper 30s
–For Sunday, a few showers are possible in the morning, but the cold frontal passage will be fairy moisture-starved, and before it comes through, we’ll shoot up into the low 50s in the warm sector with southwest winds gusting to 20mph before the front passes through by afternoon
–It will be mostly cloudy with a few breaks of sun. Lows will drop to near freezing as colder air settles in
–For Monday, we have a coastal low that we have to watch, as it could graze us with its northern fringe, which may produce a mix of rain and snow, but it’s a low chance for now, I will keep you updated on it
–Highs Monday will be in the 35-40º range with lows in the mid 20s
–Tuesday looks like a high pressure day with mostly sunny skies, but cold, with highs in the low to mid 30s and lows near 20º
–Wednesday/Thursday continues to be the focus of my attention with potential for a major snowstorm still being signaled
–There will be plenty of cold air around, as highs look to only be near freezing, so if the storm develops and tracks just to our south, the plows will be coming out across the region, so stay tuned folks!

Have a great day!
