Good morning everybody, that was quite the soaker yesterday with a number of areas seeing 1-3″ of rainfall. For all intents and purposes, our drought has been alleviated, though I imagine there may be a few “abnormally dry” areas left on the map by next week.

All WMass power outages have been restored, while several hundred remain over Worcester County, but those should be handled today.

Speaking of today, we’ve still got our upper low spinning like a top over NY and PA and bringing snowfall to the Midwest.

This storm got so wound up, that it is now feeding colder air dragged down on its western side, around to its south, and northeast up into our area – a cooling wind blowing in from the southwest!

It can happen with powerful storms like this that really reshape the Troposphere for a minute or two, and this one certainly did that.

Highs today will be, well, where they are now for the most part, well into the 50s and low 60s.

We’ll see a few scattered showers at times, partly sunny skies at others, and southwesterly winds gusting 15-30mph at times as well.

Temps will drop during the afternoon, and bottom out tonight into the upper 20s to low 30s as winds calm. A Berkshire flurry is possible.

For Wednesday, our upper low will finally start to move, and track northeast through NY and into southeast Canada by late Wednesday night.

As it does so, we’ll see a mostly cloudy day in the Berkshires, western hilltowns, Litchfields, Taconics and southern VT with some scattered snow showers, and highs in the mid 30s out that way.

For valley folks, down into north-central, northeast CT through southwest NH and CMass, more of a partly sunny day with highs in the low 40s is expected. Again, southwest winds will gust to 20mph at times.

Any snow showers quit at night, with lows in the upper 20s.

Thursday is a high pressure day, with sunny skies and highs in the 40s, and lows near freezing with increasing clouds.

The Friday through Sunday period is still a bit murky. It looks cool, highs in the 40s, lows near freezing, and we should see more clouds than sunshine.

There is a chance for showers Friday, and again on Sunday, but I will need to refine as we get closer.

Have a great day!
