Good morning everybody, gratefully I snuck away to Hammonnessett Beach in Madison, CT yesterday and saw the ocean for the first and last time this warm season. I literally caught the last summery summer day for a few hours, and it was really nice.
Any other CT beach recommendations for future trips? Please let me know in the comments below. I’m thinking more east of there would be good (I tend to avoid big crowds, especially during these covid times).
Anyway, we’re starting off pretty gray with low clouds and fog, and even some mist here and there this morning.
Temps and dewpoints are in the 60s, but like yesterday, the fog will burn off, and the low clouds should mix out, and leaving us with a partly to mostly sunny day with some mid/high clouds moving in from the south later, thanks to a system off of the Mid-Atlantic coastline.
Highs today will reach the low to mid 80s, and I can’t see a warmer day over the next 10, so if you love summer, you gotta get out there and do your summertime things (check out Chuck Prophet and The Mission Express’s song of the same name, so good!).
It’ll be sticky, too. The sticky humidity continues tonight with lows in the low to mid 60s, and clouds building ahead of tomorrow’s cold frontal passage.
We could even see a shower or thunderstorm by dawn tomorrow. Early morning fog patches are expected again as well.
We’ll wake up to mostly cloudy skies tomorrow morning, and scattered showers and even a few downpours and thunderstorms are expected by late morning into the afternoon.
It will be the most humid day we’ve dealt with in a long time, with dewpoint temps cresting 70 degrees, and this will help foster some downpours in select parts of the region.
Highs will reach the 75-80º range. If we crest 80º on Thursday, it’ll be the last time for at least a week, and probably longer. Lows Thursday night will dip into the mid to upper 50s as showers abate, and drier air starts to rush in.
By Friday, dewpoint temps go WHOOOSH!! out the southern door of New England, and Autumn invades from the north! The attached dew point temperature video shows the change in dew point from today through Friday. WHOOOSH!
Friday and Saturday will feature much drier air, mostly sunny skies, and highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
By Sunday, another cold front will move through in the afternoon, reinforcing more early-season Autumnal air.
This may combine with another system to bring us a better chance at rainfall across the region in the afternoon and evening. Here’s hoping!
Highs on Sunday will also only reach the upper 60s to low 70s with lows in the upper 50s.
Early next week looks like more sunshine, dry air, highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Summah lovahs, get outside today, I’m telling you. Have a great day!
