Western Mass Weather for September 5, 2020

[CRICKET WEATHER… ABUNDANT SUNSHINE THROUGH TUESDAY, THEN WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY MAY FEATURE A COUPLE OF SHOWER BOUTS, AND POSSIBLE A RAINSTORM BY THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY BEFORE DRIER AIR SURGES BACK INTO THE REGION FOR NEXT WEEKEND… 9:20AM SAT]

Good morning everybody, the coolness and crispness of this morning makes my big toe shoot up in my boot, as Little Richard once said about Jimi Hendrix. Now that’s sayin’ something!

Our star will be on full resplendent display, following our sweet corn moon during our recent nightly passage.

Highs in the low to mid 70s as high pressure gently extends its calm index finger of dry, sinking air from the Applachians into New England today and tomorrow.

Lows tonight settle down to either side of 50º.

More sunshine tomorrow, light winds, starting to turn out of the south, highs in the mid to upper 70s. Your grill is calling your name, can you hear it? Lows will be in the mid 50s or so, easy on the bones.

Labor Day Monday warms a bit, 75-80º, mostly sunny, southerly flow continues to build. Lows near 60º.

By Tuesday, we could get a breezy day in here with southwest winds gusting to 20mph or so as a low passes well northwest. It will get more humid too, and highs will rise into the low to mid 80s for a very warm late-summer day. Good beach day if you swing it! Lows in the low 60s.

Wednesday morning is the last of our long sunny stretch, as clouds will build in the afternoon, but not before we reach highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

That Wednesday afternoon into Friday period looks more unsettled with at least scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm possible each day, but severe weather is not expected.

There is a chance that the historic plunge of cold that will drop Denver from the mid 80s on Labor Day to the low 30s Tuesday morning with snow could send low pressure and the trough responsible for that massive change eastward to New England to generate a period of rainfall by late Thursday night into Friday, but we’ll see how that all plays out as we get closer.

It looks highs reach the 75-80º range Thursday and Friday in the WMass region, and then we should turn drier and a bit cooler by that following weekend.

Have a great day and soak up the sunshine!
